If you needed to know just how shit this country is, Fire and rehire is legal. NHS staff get 1% pay rise for battling to save lives, hmrc get 13%pay rise, council taxes increase yet services decline. Rip Britain

I think @BritishGas engineers are key workers. I'm not just saying that as a @GMBLondonRegion member but as someone who relies on a @BritishGas contract to keep my hot water/heating working! It's about time this attack on workers rights was properly reported on @BBCNews ??

As soon as I heard my instant reaction was "NO" cos I don't like getting threatened and I'm angry!! When I thought about it, we are getting what we have asked for "negotiation" and you can bet your life if we say no then the silence from the business will suddenly be broken and

British Gas' treatment of its workers is a disgrace. Today I urged Ministers to intervene.
Centrica need to get around the negotiating table with @GMB_union.
And the Government must take legislative action to end the shameful tactic of fire and rehire.

This morning at @CommonsBEIS we heard from Centrica and @GMB_union about the use of #fireandrehire. I asked the Centrica CEO why this was happening only 3 months after he took over and what he thinks about the effect on workers of fire and rehire threats. #StopTheBritishGasFire

We support the British Gas workers in their fight against ‘hire & fire’ practices. We have donated to the strike fund - please do also if you can @GMB_union
Striking is always a last resort and leaves workers forgoing a day's pay.
We're raising funds for British Gas workers and their families as they struggle for fairness and justice.
Please support if you can 👇

After five days of @GMB_Union strike action at @BritishGas, I have written to the FCA to ask them to investigate whether the company is meeting its obligations to customers.
@BritishGas' out of control CEO is letting the company and my constituents down.
