What the fuck
“ identifying that a specific employee had planted it a few days earlier. “
We discovered a sophisticated recording device that was hidden inside one of our offices. We used our models to understand the device and where it had come from, identifying that a specific employee had planted it a few days earlier. We referred the matter to the FBI, and we’re grateful to the agents and prosecutors who moved quickly to make an arrest. The FBI’s investigation is ongoing and we will continue to support their work.
At this time, we have no indications of this individual inappropriately accessing or exfiltrating model weights, source code, or customer data. The employee was terminated.
We take protecting our technology, data, and people seriously, and as a matter of national importance. Our security program is designed to protect against a wide range of threat actors, from insider risks to cybercriminals to nation states, and this case is an example of how AI can help address these sophisticated security threats.

Let's take this seriously: even Google employees are now clearly stating that it seems to be an industry consensus that all Frontier Labs are managing "RSI loops." In other words, recursive self-improvement is being implemented by everyone.
Furthermore, Fable 5.5 will be the best model for Anthropic's IPO, but internally, OpenAI's "Bel" will undoubtedly overtake Anthropic by the end of the year.
RSI is here, and internally, the labs are miles ahead.
I was at an AI dinner last night in NYC.
Some interesting topics discussed
1. Performance engineers now spend most of their time managing agents and RSI loops. Most perf opts at major inference providers (together, fireworks) are found by agents.
2. RLing too much on code and math has negative effects on your model especially it’s language.
3. People were impressed by @bot and the overall acquisition of @cursor_ai by @spacexai. xAI is a legitimate frontier lab right now.
4. Most people have agents in loop writing, reviewing, and submitting PRs 24/7
5. Most agreed code review is not super productive anymore
6. Consensus was Fable 5.5 will be stunning but OpenAI will beat it in December with Bel

If AI discovers a cure for cancer tomorrow, I couldn’t care less whether it puts thousands of researchers out of work.
Imagine telling millions of patients they have to keep suffering because some people need to feel useful.
Your career isn’t more important than human lives. Get over yourself.

The 27-34 year old man “struck out” as a matter of public policy. There’s nothing fascinating about it.
Public policy dictates that he must lose, so he lost.
6 years in stealth
Let that sink in
That was hell of a bet 👏
After six years in stealth, Atomic Machines is out. Our mission: on-demand, universal command of matter. First beachhead: the Matter Compiler, an AI-native manufacturing system that builds working micro-machines from code alone. No per-product tooling. No process development. Different code, different machine.

turns out this is how mathematicians think. I genuinely had no idea.

math is solved
it’s so over
We’re releasing a broad range of new mathematical results produced by an internal frontier model.
We’ve been consulting with the independent Advisory Group on Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence at the Institute for Advanced Study, and we have drawn on their advice and public recommendations to inform how we release these results.

CDC is aware of and closely monitoring reports of a suspected case of pneumonic plague in the Irkutsk region of Russia that resulted in a death. We are working across the U.S. government to assess developments as additional information becomes available.
While the circumstances of this reported case remain unconfirmed, plague is a serious bacterial disease that is treatable with antibiotics, particularly when recognized and treated early.
Pneumonic plague can spread person-to-person through respiratory droplets during close contact, which is why rapid identification and treatment of infected individuals, and monitoring of potentially exposed individuals, are important public health measures.
At this time, there is no indication of a broader threat to the United States, but CDC and our interagency partners are prepared and will continue to monitor the situation closely.

U.S. State Department Urges Americans to Leave Russia 'Immediately' Amid Plague Fears
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The State Dept's longstanding Level 4 advisory urging Americans to leave Russia immediately cites war and detention risks, not plague; a recent localized embassy alert for one suspected Irkutsk case merely restates it.
