Britain spent decades and vast resources (including the Royal Navy) suppressing the Atlantic slave trade and pushing for its global abolition. Today some of the same countries demanding reparations from Britain still have high rates of modern slavery. According to Walk Free’s Global Slavery Index, millions of people remain in forced labour, forced marriage, and hereditary bondage across Africa. Countries with some of the highest prevalence include Eritrea, Mauritania, and South Sudan. In Mauritania, descent-based slavery of the Haratin continues despite formal abolition. In Libya, reports of slave markets and trafficking of sub-Saharan migrants have been documented for years. Eritrea’s indefinite national service has been described by UN investigators as amounting to enslavement. Demanding historical reparations while contemporary slavery persists undercuts the moral case. Ending present-day forced labour, trafficking, and hereditary bondage should come first. Despite the atrocious budget yesterday, the British Pound GBP is currently the strongest it has been against the Euro EUR in 18 months, since April 2025. Which tells you how bad things must be in the EU and the Eurozone right now, if GBP is *still* getting stronger.

I am saddened to hear that Sir Patrick Stewart has passed away. A star of stage and screen, an incredible Shakespearian actor. A safe journey to the stars, Captain Picard.

Budget Healey confirmed  Gas standing charges are being axed.  Read the fine print it reveals the catch: the cost is just being shifted to the unit rate.  40% of households - mostly larger, hard-pressed families - will actually see their bills increase as a result🤨

Good morning right-minded friends and fellow countrymen and women. Happy Wednesday, AKA hump day. I suspect that today's budget will provide more humps for this country from this shower of shite government. Thank goodness import duty on Gherkins has been reduced.🤣

Wetherspoons is guilty of poppy suppression after the manager of The Star in Gosport told a man that he could not enter the restaurant unless he removed his poppy. #wearitwithpride

Good Monday morning, right-minded friends and fellow countrymen and women. Can I suggest that a nationwide boycott of Wetherspoons after the manager of their branch in Gosport denied entry to a man wearing a poppy, stating that the poppy is 'political'. Clearly, the manager needs a history lesson.

Good Sunday morning, fellow right-minded friends and fellow countrymen and women. Have a great Sunday. Can Burnham get any worse? Closer ties with the EU and possibly rejoining, and an appearance on some crappy Channel 4 reality TV program. The man is not fit to be prime minister; at least Starmergeddon treated the office of prime minster with respect. I took the government's advice and stocked up with essentials, three days supply of beer, for which I had to empty my fridge of food to fit them in🤣🤣. Have a super day folks.
