Happy Birthday Sachin Dev Burman 🌻💐 Burmanda at 120. I call him the baap of all music directors. Sheer melody defines his songs Eyes closed you can guess it's an SD song. In addition to being a music director par excellence he was an awesome singer too. He expressed raw emotions so beautifully. Sharing this song from Sujata released in 1959. This iconic track marked S.D. Burman's return to playback singing in Hindi cinema after a gap of more than a decade, having previously sung for Eight Days in 1946. The song is a brilliant adaptation of the traditional Bengali folk genre, Bhatiyali (boatman's song). S.D. Burman used minimalist instrumentation, incorporating a wooden block to replicate the rhythmic sound of a boat's oars hitting the water alongside a soft flute. Lyrics Majrooh. Directed by Bimal Roy with Sunil Dutt and Nutan.

Mukherjee Bari Pujo, Varanasi - where Ma Durga never left. In the narrow lanes of Madanpura’s Bengali Tola, Kashi holds a Durga unlike any other. At Mukherjee Bari (Purana Durga Bari), the same clay-and-straw idol installed in 1767 by Kali Prasanna Mukhopadhyay has stood for nearly 260 years. On Vijaya Dashami that first year, fifteen men could not move her for visarjan. That night she appeared in a dream and said she wished to stay in Kashi. The family listened. She has never left. #MukherjeeBariPujo #PuranaDurgaBari #VaranasiDurgaPuja #BonediBari #Kashi #DurgaPuja2026 #BengaliTola #MaDurga #MukherjeeBariPujo #PuranaDurgaBari #VaranasiDurgaPuja #BonediBari #Kashi #DurgaPuja2025 #BengaliTola #MaDurga

A remarkably well-preserved, mummified Ice Age foal (baby horse) covered in mud, discovered in the Batagaika crater (also called the "Mouth of Hell") in Yakutia, Russia.... Some discoveries feel like opening a door directly into the ancient past. The 42000 year old foal found deep in the Siberian permafrost is one of those rare moments when history suddenly becomes vivid and alive. So perfectly preserved that its liquid blood and soft tissues remained intact, this young Ice Age horse became one of the most extraordinary natural time capsules ever uncovered. The foal was discovered in the Batagaika Crater of Yakutia, a region known for yielding remarkable Pleistocene specimens. What makes this find so astonishing is not just its age, but its state of preservation. The permafrost acted like a natural freezer, halting decay the moment the young horse died. Its skin, mane, internal organs, and even the delicate structures around the hooves survived for tens of thousands of years. The coat still carried its deep reddish brown color, offering a remarkably detailed look at what Ice Age horses truly looked like. Scientists identified the foal as belonging to the extinct Lena horse, a species that roamed the ancient Siberian plains during the Pleistocene. The recovery of liquid blood and preserved DNA opened a door that researchers had only dreamed of. With genetic material this intact, some scientists have suggested that future de extinction efforts could potentially revive lost horse species. Although this is still far from reality, the foal provides critical information on Ice Age genetics, biology, and environmental adaptation. The preservation also allows researchers to study the diet, development, and habitat of ancient horses with unprecedented accuracy. Every detail from the texture of the skin to the blood chemistry adds another piece to the story of life during the last Ice Age. For paleontologists and geneticists alike, this foal is more than a fossil. It is a messenger from a vanished world. The foal still had milk residue in its stomach, showing it died at just a few weeks old. #drthehistories

What an incredible rescue of a newborn elephant calf swept away by the Teesta River! The courage, compassion and quick thinking of local fishermen, combined with the swift response of the Baikunthapur Forest Division, deserve immense appreciation. Together, they successfully reunited the little one with its anxious mother. Bravo 👏 #elephants #wildliferescue
