A British writer penned the best description of Donald Trump I’ve ever read: “Why do some British people not like Donald Trump?” A few things spring to mind. Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem. For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour and no grace – all qualities, funnily enough, with which his predecessor Mr. Obama was generously blessed. So for us, the stark contrast does rather throw Trump’s limitations into embarrassingly sharp relief. Plus, we like a laugh. And while Trump may be laughable, he has never once said anything wry, witty or even faintly amusing – not once, ever. I don’t say that rhetorically, I mean it quite literally: not once, not ever. And that fact is particularly disturbing to the British sensibility – for us, to lack humour is almost inhuman. But with Trump, it’s a fact. He doesn’t even seem to understand what a joke is – his idea of a joke is a crass comment, an illiterate insult, a casual act of cruelty. Trump is a troll. And like all trolls, he is never funny and he never laughs; he only crows or jeers. And scarily, he doesn’t just talk in crude, witless insults – he actually thinks in them. His mind is a simple bot-like algorithm of petty prejudices and knee-jerk nastiness. There is never any under-layer of irony, complexity, nuance or depth. It’s all surface. Some Americans might see this as refreshingly upfront. Well, we don’t. We see it as having no inner world, no soul. And in Britain we traditionally side with David, not Goliath. All our heroes are plucky underdogs: Robin Hood, Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist. Trump is neither plucky, nor an underdog. He is the exact opposite of that. He’s not even a spoiled rich-boy, or a greedy fat-cat. He’s more a fat white slug. A Jabba the Hutt of privilege. And worse, he is that most unforgivable of all things to the British: a bully. That is, except when he is among bullies; then he suddenly transforms into a snivelling sidekick instead. There are unspoken rules to this stuff – the Queensberry rules of basic decency – and he breaks them all. He punches downwards – which a gentleman should, would, could never do – and every blow he aims is below the belt. He particularly likes to kick the vulnerable or voiceless – and he kicks them when they are down. So the fact that a significant minority – perhaps a third – of Americans look at what he does, listen to what he says, and then think ‘Yeah, he seems like my kind of guy’ is a matter of some confusion and no little distress to British people, given that: • Americans are supposed to be nicer than us, and mostly are. • You don’t need a particularly keen eye for detail to spot a few flaws in the man. This last point is what especially confuses and dismays British people, and many other people too; his faults seem pretty bloody hard to miss. After all, it’s impossible to read a single tweet, or hear him speak a sentence or two, without staring deep into the abyss. He turns being artless into an art form; he is a Picasso of pettiness; a Shakespeare of shit. His faults are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on ad infinitum. God knows there have always been stupid people in the world, and plenty of nasty people too. But rarely has stupidity been so nasty, or nastiness so stupid. He makes Nixon look trustworthy and George W look smart. In fact, if Frankenstein decided to make a monster assembled entirely from human flaws – he would make a Trump. And a remorseful Doctor Frankenstein would clutch out big clumpfuls of hair and scream in anguish: ‘My God… what… have… I… created?' If being a twat was a TV show, Trump would be the boxed set.” -Nate White

BREAKING: Superstar House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries absolutely torches Republicans for whining that President Biden's State of the Union was "too political," saying: "Get lost; you’re a joke." Jeffries ripped into MAGA with fiery remarks, saying that listening to them whine about "decorum" is absurd because they have "Exhibit A: Marjorie Taylor Greene" and "Exhibit B: George Santos.” He pointed out that Greene wore a hyperpartisan red MAGA hat into the House chamber — a violation of tradition and rules — and then she proceeded to shamefully heckle Biden during his speech. "That was an embarrassment last night. A complete embarrassment," Jeffries said at a Capitol press briefing. "Marjorie Taylor Greene, who’s basically running the Republican conference, shows up in campaign paraphernalia, and then these people want to lecture Joe Biden because he delivered a strong and forceful speech that made them uncomfortable because he exposed their lies and shamelessness?" he continued. "We have one message for extreme MAGA Republicans who want to lecture us about decorum: Get lost; you’re a joke. Exhibit A: Marjorie Taylor Greene. Exhibit B: George Santos," he added. Well said Leader Jeffries! This story made me 😂. “I know I shouldn’t have done this, but I am 83 years old and I was in the McDonald’s drive-through this morning and the young lady behind me leaned on her horn and started mouthing something because I was taking too long to place my order. So when I got to the first window I paid for her order along with my own. The cashier must have told her what I'd done because as we moved up she leaned out her window and waved to me and mouthed "Thank you.", obviously embarrassed that I had repaid her rudeness with kindness. When I got to the second window I showed them both receipts and took her food too. Now she has to go back to the end of the line and start all over again. Don't blow your horn at old people, they have been around a long time.🤣😂🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️🍔🍟☕️”

BREAKING: Beloved former First Lady Michelle Obama sounds the alarm about the 2024 election, says that she is "terrified" of what might happen if Donald Trump wins again. She hit the nail on the head and this should send a chill down all of our spines.... "I am terrified about what could possibly happen," said Mrs. Obama on the On Purpose podcast. While she didn't mention Trump by name, it was clear that she was talking about the deranged MAGA cult leader. "Because our leaders matter. Who we select, who speaks for us, who holds that bully pulpit — it affects us in ways that sometimes I think people take for granted," she said. "The fact that people think that government, does it really even do anything? And I’m like, ‘Oh my God, does government do everything for us.’ And we cannot take this democracy for granted. And sometimes I worry that we do," she went on. "Those are the things that keep me up," she added, stating that there are wars "in too many regions" and that we have the serious problems of artificial intelligence, education, the effects of smartphone proliferation, and voter engagement to tackle.. Michelle Obama is absolutely correct. All of these issues are deadly serious — to say nothing of climate change — and with a lunatic criminal like Donald Trump at the wheel we could drive the entire planet off a cliff. "The tone and tenor of the message matters. We can’t just say what the first thing that comes to our minds," said Mrs. Obama, an apparent reference to Trump's hateful stream-of-consciousness rambling. "That is not authenticity to me. That’s childish, and we see childish leadership right before us — what that looks like and how that feels, where somebody is just base, and vulgar and cynical in a leadership position," she went on. "It doesn’t trickle down well. That just begets more of that. I think we are obligated to model, for those of us that have a platform, because it resonates. And I want to resonate good. I want to resonate reason, and compassion and empathy," she added. Well said. BREAKING: MAGA fans screech for blood after a brave Texas judge grants an emergency abortion allowance to a pregnant woman whose fetus has a fatal diagnosis. This shouldn't be controversial, but Republicans have completely lost their minds... Kate Cox, a mother of two in the Dallas area, discovered last month that her fetus has a condition that means it will likely be stillborn or die shortly after being born. Due to Republican governance, Texas law prohibits abortions with very rare exceptions. Cox and her lawyers sought a temporary restraining order to block the state's draconian abortion bans. Thankfully, they were successful. "Kate Cox’s life and future fertility are at great risk, and according to her doctor, the medical care that she needs is an abortion," Cox's attorney Molly Duane Duane said at the hearing. She explained that in the last two days, Cox visited the emergency room for a fourth time "for pregnancy symptoms including severe cramps leaking fluid and elevated vital signs." "Many of Miss Cox’s health risks during this pregnancy will put her life in danger if left untreated, and carrying this pregnancy to term will significantly increase the risks to her future fertility, meaning that she and her husband may not be able to have more children in the future," she added. Judge Maya Guerra Gamble granted the request. "The idea that Miss Cox wants desperately to be a parent, and this law might actually cause her to lose that ability is shocking and would be a genuine miscarriage of justice," said Gamble. Horrifyingly, an attorney representing Texas argued that the request should be denied because Cox supposedly failed to prove that she would suffer "immediate and irreparable injury" without the abortion. Republicans are really that radical. Please retweet and ❤️ to urge other judges to follow Judge Gamble's example — and consider joining the growing exodus to Tribel, a new pro-democracy social network that is exploding in popularity because Twitter and Facebook are trying to stop its growth — which is only making Tribel grow even faster. BREAKING: Donald Trump is dealt a crushing blow as the New York Court of Appeals denies his desperate request to halt Judge Arthur Engoran's summary judgement that he committed "pervasive, widespread fraud in financial statements." This is a huge win for New York Attorney General Letitia James.... Trump was hoping to to stay Engoron's preliminary ruling in the massive $250 million civil fraud lawsuit brought against him by the state of New York. According to MSNBC legal report Lisa Rubin, the ruling "means practically" that the independent financial monitor is owed a "bunch of information and advanced notice about their ownership structure and future activity," which is absolutely terrible news for the struggling Trump Organization. Now there can be no argument. Donald Trump committed fraud and — as Engoron stated so succinctly — it was this fraud that enabled the "real estate empire" that "catapulted him to fame and the White House." Bring this up the next time a MAGA cultist tells you that Donald Trump is a "great businessman." BREAKING: MAGA Congressman Matt Gaetz gets slammed with bad news as his underaged sex trafficking investigation jolts back to life according to new reporting from CNN. Gaetz thought he was in the clear but he could be going down hard after all... At least one witness was recently contacted by investigators looking to schedule an interview as part of the House Ethics Committee's ongoing probe into the allegations leveled against Gaetz of sexual misconduct and misuse of funds. This sudden request is the first indication of progress in the inquiry since July, when several witnesses were contacted to provide interviews and documentation. The witness, who was contacted last Thursday, was informed that the committee's chairman Republican Representative Michael Guest and ranking Democratic member Representative Susan Wild "have authorized staff to conduct an interview.” Gaetz, a noted shameless liar, has denied the allegations. Bryan Cranston on Trump: "I've stopped worrying about Donald Trump's sanity. He's not sane. And the realization of his illness doesn't fill me with anger, but with profound sadness. What I now worry about is the sanity of anyone who can still support this deeply troubled man to lead our country." Do you agree?

Much is made of my uncle’s legacy. Caroline is his legacy. Her tireless work on his legacy, safeguarding it, growing it, and then working herself round the clock her entire life for her country is his legacy. Both of her parents and her brother would be so proud of her, just as I am. She’s smart, kind, loving, caring, giving. She believes in public service. She’s a great human, mom, wife, sister, cousin, and friend. Today I honor her. I remember Uncle Jack, all he fought for, and all so many still fight for. He loved his country. He believed in it, and he served it in every way. May we all find ways to be of service to our country today, and in the future.

On this day in 1963, my uncle was killed by an assassin’s bullet. This day is forever seared into my heart and mind. Go gently today, as millions of people are working through their trauma. Millions of people are grieving things that happened years ago or decades ago, or just moments ago. Millions will never be the same again. Let’s start by acknowledging our own pain. Our own pain guides us to our own healing, which in turn can help heal others.
