Welp, the Strib won't publish my Op-Ed about how the State Fair needs to take action against vendors selling racist wares and develop standards for Fair vendors. So here it is. You can also sign the petition to tell State Fair officials to take action: change.org/p/end-racist-vend…

Video (not time lapse) of aurora over Oberg Lake. It was spooky and tough trudging up here in the dark, I had bear spray in case of early-rising bears, or hungry wolves, or mountain lions, or particularly menacing shadows.

In my dull secret life, I'm a moderator in a big online community & have reviewed >100,000 membership applications
So now I'm really good at telling the difference between real people & bots:
--Real people make dumb human mistakes
--Bots don't make mistakes or make weird ones

As I watched the sunset last month, I captured something spectacular: My team says these are some of the most clearly visible images of sun rays we've ever seen on Mars!

ALT A panoramic image captured by the Curiosity Mars rover. The dark horizon appears as a jagged sliver along the bottom of the image with the gray Martian sky above. Taken at twilight, the image displays faint white, green, and pink-hued “sun rays” shining through clouds at sunset. The varying light and dark beams radiate from the center of the image upward and outward from the horizon. This panorama was stitched together from 28 images sent to Earth.

This callout is going to be like searching for a needle in the haystack, but I'm trying to find couples who, upon marriage, invented an entirely new surname for themselves. Do you know anyone? Are you this couple? I'd love to connect for an upcoming column. Thank you!

Just heard the horrifying news out of Monterey Park, CA. A whole community wracked by gun violence and death, on what should have been a joyous Lunar New Year celebration.
No motive is yet known. But we must act to end the ability of murderers to take so many lives so brutally.

"What happened to Roe could happen in Minnesota," said Rep. @carlieforhouse in introducing her bill. Minnesota has constitutional protection for abortion through a 1995 Supreme Court case known as Doe v. Gomez, but there's nothing in law guaranteeing access to abortion
