Next up at #AI4RE is @petrknoth presenting AI for the Open Scholarly Web and why AI needs open data and open infrastructures. @kmiou
Slides will be available after the workshop.
And still goes blindly ahead advocating for something that would make the situation far worse. It reminds me of governments, when they cut or severely restrict funding for free healthcare to demonstrate that it "doesn't" work just to create a political argument for private one.
The robustness is because 1) many papers have co-authors from different institutions, so they are deposited at more than one repository, 2) they are backed up in @oacore 3) many repositories means no single point of failure and no vendor lock-in at a SW platform level.
Yes, we do, because that creates robustness in the system. Also, let's not confuse duplication with colllabiration on well managed open source projects, e.g. DSpace

The author of this THE post bit.ly/48MujkX who is a library Director advocates for abandoning repositories in favour of commercial solutions, instead of bringing up that the spending on open scholarly infrastructure doesn't account even for 10% of library budgets. Shame.

CORE was represented this week by @petrknoth at the @UNESCO workshop on Building an Open Open Science Monitoring Framework. Important questions and discussions around tracking outputs, fairly assigning credit, moving away from proprietary data sources and how we can improve the shared technical framework.
Full write up to follow shortly. #OpenScience #OpenAccess
2023 is according to the White House a year of #OpenScience . Great to see this progress, embodied e.g. in the Nelson Memo. @kmiou

Great to hear your user base is increasing. There are indeed costs associated with high usage for @scholarcy, so why not :) We know this all too well at @oacore. Btw. do you happen to have deals with publishers to let you index behind the paywall science.org/content/article/โฆ?
