BREAKING: Officials on all sides who have been briefed on the US-Denmark-Greenland deal tell me they are happy with the details.
A senior State Department official and a regional official briefed on the deal say the highlights are:
- Provides US permanent basing, access, and overflight rights
- Bans non-NATO bases
- Screening mechanism for investments that would allow a block on Chinese, Russian investments
- Greenland population can choose its political future
- No territory transferred to the US
