Over the past few weeks, under the leadership of PS
@SingoeiAKorir we've had stakeholder interactions through roundtables, panels, online chats, etc. to identify and find solutions to trust deficits in Kenya's creative sector. The @GTSummit2026 continues tomorrow.

Creative economy diplomacy @ForeignOfficeKE
Kenya’s creative sector possesses immense talent; accelerating its impact requires closing structural gaps to establish a trusted, fully aligned ecosystem.
Presided over by Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Dr. @SingoeiAKorir, the Creative & Cultural Industries Pre-Trust Summit Roundtable convened 70+ leaders across state agencies, Big Tech, finance, and the arts. Together, they established clear execution priorities across 5 action tracks: IP protection, transparent royalties, AI safeguards, tailored finance, and global market access anchoring the creative economy within Kenya’s broader economic diplomacy strategy.
Trust is experienced, not declared. This dialogue moves us from common understanding to practical action, directly driving the actionable outcomes and frameworks of #TrustSummit2026.

Back in primary school our teacher made us write 50 kikuyu proverbs. I spent my time walking around the village collecting the proverbs from different people like a scribe. Probably my most significant scholarly work yet

Replying to @wakiurunjuguna
@wakiurunjuguna and I are excited to start this project and grow one conversation at a time. Let us together share our creative investment ideas and strategies.
This season, @Gachara and @wakiurunjuguna are sitting down with creatives and industry voices working across film and filmmaking in East Africa to get into what it really takes to build, create and sustain a career in the industry. 🎙️Season One starts 9 September.
First we went to Brentford and took their best goalkeeper.
Then we went to West Ham and took their captain and best player.
Then we went to Newcastle United and took their captain and best player.
Now we’ve just gone to Aston Villa and taken their best player.
Watch out Manchester City, we might come for Erling Haaland next season.
Don’t worry @ManUtd, your Hondas are safe.

I received Mr Peter “Pages” Bwire, cultural and creative-industries programmer and founder of Kitale Film Week, to discuss positioning Kenya’s creative capital more deliberately within our foreign policy and international engagement.
We explored how the State Department and our Missions can connect Kenyan film, music, fashion, heritage and storytelling to global markets and institutions, while securing early and accurate Kenyan representation in influential films, research and exhibitions.
A central proposal was a Creative Economy Pre-Trust Summit ahead of the Global Trust Summit, convening creators, rights bodies, investors, technology platforms, public agencies and international partners to address intellectual property, fair remuneration, financing, data transparency and market access.
The objective is an actionable Kenyan agenda for the main Summit—advancing creativity as a driver of economic opportunity, cultural diplomacy and national influence. @ForeignOfficeKE @kitalefilmweek @kenyafilmcomm
Privileged and grateful to PS @SingoeiAKorir for inviting me to contribute my voice on how Kenya’s creative and cultural industries can be strategically aligned with our foreign policy and expand global opportunities for Kenyan creatives.
Another reason why there's a trust problem. Leadership is determined to mislead
Marianne Kitany: When the 2024 Finance Bill was rejected, we listened to the public and removed everything they did not want, but we brought some of the clauses back under the Business Laws Amendment because they were good tax incentives that, today, have benefited Kenya. #K24Siasa
