Talking with other entrepreneurs for the first time usually reaches a point where you are discussing bootstrapping VS VC-backed startups.
This discussion shows a lot about a person's personality and life situation
I ran an experiment to see if I could build a scalable marketing setup with Perplexity.
I picked a high-intent, high-traffic search keyword and generated a post with Perplexity for it. The content was technical, showing how to run FFmpeg tasks, it looked nice, but pretty fluffy.
I sent it to my editor to edit, and then published it on Rendi’s blog.
Results:
My work time: ~15–20 min.
Within 5 days, a few dozen visitors came (mostly from Western countries).
Hotjar recordings showed: most didn’t read at all, and the few who did quickly bounced.
When I started building Rendi, I looked at successful devtools - not just as competition but as playbooks to learn from.
I decided to reach out to their founders, and was lucky to find several who offered help. They shared what worked, what didn’t, and the pitfalls to avoid.
That network became invaluable - I still lean on it whenever I’m stuck or planning Rendi’s growth.
A surprising discovery while shopping for a new domain name, and a hack in the end.
If you are searching for a short, one word domain name, and it is available. It might cost ~100$ to buy for one year, but renewal costs are 600$+ dollars, across all the domain registries. Seems they are coordinating prices.
The hack is to buy the 100$ for 10 years, paying around $1K, instead of $6K over time.
Funny story
They have an app for scanning sheet music.
GPT started sending them users with guitar tabs it generated, falsely claiming their product could read them.
The traffic it sent pushed the team to actually build that feature.
