Six years ago you asked for schools that put students & families first. I've delivered. Today I'm running for re-election — RJUHSD Board, TA2. Your endorsement means a lot — and shows our broad base of support. Add your name: PeteConstant.com
I moved to California in 1977 at the young age of 13, the same year the Bay Area passed its first transit sales tax. I'll turn 63 this year, and voters are being asked to approve another one - same agencies, same "catastrophic cuts" pitch. My entire adult life has run alongside this argument. It's never once been resolved. Wrote about the 50-year pattern for Opportunity Now: opportunitynowsv.org/blog/th…
Charlie Kirk has spoken on college campuses knowing his views would spark fierce opposition and protests. He valued discourse, especially with those he disagreed with. How many of us can say we truly engage civilly with those who we disagree deeply?
As a professor teaching students on public policy, constitution, civil rights, and political issues, I emphasize the importance of open discourse and tolerance for differing views. It’s the bedrock of our democracy.
At Jessup we instill these values of courage and respectful dialogue. We are conscious of our calling and remind students to engage with humility, patience, and love, while striving for unity even in our differences (Ephesians 4:2-3 ).
I pray for Charlie’s family and our increasingly divided nation.
May his memory be eternal.

More of my thoughts on redistricting - but from a policy analysis lens, rather than the simple partisan lens most often applied. opportunitynowsv.org/blog/th…
Gerrymandering is WRONG. Period. No matter who is doing it
I’ve been advocating for independent redistricting for decades.
Whether it’s local, regional or at the state level, I will continue to speak up. We all should.

In the midst of a $12 Billion shortfall, California is considering corporate welfare for journalism. No thank you, that’s not what my hard earned tax dollars should pay for.

anyone else think it sends the wrong message when the CEO of a public transit agency is given a $500/mo car allowance? What, no free bus pass? sanjoseinside.com/news/vta-p…

Still in shock from the news I just received that one of my board members, friend, and icon Jim Spiotto passed away suddenly yesterday. May his memory be eternal.

I’ve used Chase bank for years. Julie and I have a mortgage there, our main checking account, 3 personal credit cards, a business credit card and all my kids have savings/checking accounts there.
The Roseville, CA branch must not value my business #chase #chasebank

If Buffett, probably the best investor of our generation, can't beat the market anymore what hope does anyone else have?
Missed all your shows in CA, so I’m flying out to Muskegon next week to see Red Hoodie Comedy Tour! @bobbybones - love to meet the man who got me to watch DWTS if possible. Just got my tix & the Meet&Greet was sold out.

Should we stop all of the other animals in the kingdom from killing and eating other animals? Or should we understand the cycle of life and hierarchy of species better? (Why do I have those canine teeth?)

Always fun to see what made an impression on my former staff members!
My favorite constituent call ever (back in 2007 when I worked for Councilmember @peteconstant) was a guy who had a 6-ft emu at his house in San Jose and wanted an exemption to the city ordinance banning farm animals on residential parcels.
