It’s deeply troubling that emerging technology can be used to extract CVR audio from visualized data we share to help the public understand the circumstances of an accident.
Laws against releasing CVR audio exist to protect privacy, preserve the integrity of NTSB investigations, and out of respect for accident victims and their families during a time of tremendous loss.
NTSB is taking steps to address this issue. The public docket is offline for now, and we are urging X, Reddit, and others to take such disgusting, manipulated posts down. ⬇️
The NTSB is aware that advances in image recognition and computational methods have enabled individuals to reconstruct approximations of cockpit voice recorder audio from sound spectrum imagery released as part of NTSB investigations, including the ongoing investigation of the crash last year of UPS flight 2976 in Louisville, Kentucky.
The NTSB does not release cockpit audio recordings. Federal law prohibits such public release due to the highly sensitive nature of verbal communications inside the cockpit. The NTSB takes these privacy restrictions seriously.
The NTSB docket system is temporarily unavailable as we examine the scope of the issue and evaluate solutions. We hope to restore access to the docket system as soon as possible.

This week’s thing that happened just after we talked about it on AvTalk and hit stop on the recording brought to you by…

But maybe don’t call it the SAM Act?

ALT Text of a tweet from Rep Nehls on his bill: “FAA regulations are restricting American innovation. I introduced the SAM Act, which directs the FAA to allow supersonic flight so long as no sonic boom reaches the ground. We must foster innovation to maintain U.S. leadership in next-generation aerospace technology.”
This was exactly my experience. It was surreal and ultimately wonderful to watch young people genuinely enjoy something so much.
Congratulations Dominic!
I wasn't planning to go public until Monday, but wouldn't you know, a real journalist got the scoop.

A bit interesting...
The incident aircraft here appears to be N302SA — a 737 MAX 8 — which operated a turn to PAP yesterday. It continued to operate four more flights into early this morning.
The jet now looks to be out of service until Nov. 14.
An American spokesperson confirms that one of its aircraft was hit by gunfire in Haiti:
"On Monday, Nov. 11, American Airlines flight 819 from Toussaint Louverture International Airport (PAP) to Miami International Airport (MIA) landed safely and uneventfully in Miami. Out of an abundance of caution, a post-flight inspection was completed, indicating the exterior of the aircraft had been impacted by a bullet. We are working closely with all relevant authorities to investigate this incident. Our daily service between Miami and Port-au-Prince has now been suspended through Feb. 12. We will continue to monitor the situation with safety and security top of mind and will adjust our operation as needed."

IAM/Boeing Proposal for Contract 2024
October 31, 2024
Your Union is endorsing and recommending the latest IAM/Boeing Contract Proposal. It is time for our Members to lock in these gains and confidently declare victory. We believe asking members to stay on strike longer wouldn't be right as we have achieved so much success.
In every negotiation and strike, there is a point where we have extracted everything that we can in bargaining and by withholding our labor. We are at that point now and risk a regressive or lesser offer in the future.
This contract builds on everything achieved in the September 12, 2024 agreement, with the additional gains you achieved by going on strike.
The two significant changes in this offer from the last one are:
-38% GWI over four years - 13%, 9%, 9%, 7%, which compounds to 43.65% over the life of the agreement
-The $12,000 Ratification bonus combines the previous $7k ratification bonus and the $5K lump sum into the 401k. Now, members can choose how this total amount is received - in your paycheck, contribution to your 401K, or a combination of both.
Find all proposal information at iam751.org/2024strikeproposa…
We will vote on this proposal on Monday, November 4, 2024, and information on voting locations/times will be released later tonight. Please monitor your email for this information.
Oh FFS people.
Guess what happened at #OHare again...
