Spot on. Multilingual and low-resource NLP built by local researchers has been at the heart of KHIPU from day one—from BETO (the open Spanish BERT model trained by @perez et al. at Universidad de Chile using the Cloud TPUs @JeffDean announced at KHIPU 2019), to ongoing work on Latin American and Indigenous languages across our community (including longtime KHIPU member @OmarUFlorez, who is helping lead LatamGPT), to our 2027 speakers in São Paulo including Masakhane co-founder @vukosi, Marzieh Fadaee (@mziizm), and @sarahookr.

I’m really excited to share that our @OpenAI reasoning system got a perfect score of 12/12 during the 2025 ICPC World Finals, the premier collegiate programming competition where top university teams from around the world solve complex algorithmic problems. This would have placed it first among all human participants. 🥇🥇
