"secondo Bank of America"

In today’s Vatnik Soup, we introduce an Italian journalist and political commentator, Marco Travaglio (@marcotravaglio). He’s best known for being the most prominent pro-Russian voice in Italy and for spreading Russian disinformation almost every day on Italian TV.

bro zachxbt is actually insane
this man went undercover as a money laundering client
spent $350K of his OWN money to gain the trust of a chinese launderer who was moving bybit hack funds for north korea
the guy started sharing everything. screenshots. wallet addresses. bridge transactions. in real time
zach was matching every single transaction on-chain as the guy was sending them
traced $12M+ across bitcoin, ethereum, solana, and tron
got tether to freeze $442K from the evidence alone
and the funniest part? in between discussing how to launder funds for north korea this guy was casually talking about playing mahjong and his weight loss plan 😭
bro thought he was talking to a client. he was talking to the most dangerous investigator in crypto
and zach funded this entire operation himself. $350K out of pocket. no guarantee he'd ever see it back
this is not the FBI. this is one guy with a laptop and a blockchain explorer
different breed
1/ How I infiltrated a Chinese organized crime syndicate that has laundered $1B+ across multiple exploits for Lazarus Group.
Posing as a client, I gathered intel that helped action freezes for the Feb 2025 Bybit exploit and attribute illicit activity onchain.

Operation Vivaldi: Ukrainian heavy drones are now airlifting ground robots behind Russian lines.
During Season 2 of the 3rd Army Corps’ offensive on the Lyman axis, Ukrainian Defense Forces conducted what the corps describes as the first combat air-drop of UGVs into the enemy rear.
Heavy bomber UAVs carried kamikaze ground robots more than 10 km behind Russian positions.
The sequence matters: Air defense and EW blind enemy drones → heavy UAVs deliver UGVs into the rear → robots attack first → infantry maneuvers behind them.
As the 3rd Army Corps puts it:
“Infantry wins the battle, but we protect our infantry. That is why robots go to the enemy first.”
At the same time, Ukrainian units isolated the battlefield — striking crossings, command posts, ammunition depots and reserves.
The result in Season 2: another 40 sq. km cleared, Shandryholove and Derylove liberated, and control established over Drobysheve. Since Vivaldi began, more than 125 sq. km have returned to Ukrainian control, according to the corps.
This is the part worth studying: drones are no longer only carrying explosives. They are carrying robots that carry explosives.
The objective remains human: send machines into the most dangerous part of the battlefield before sending infantry.

Dario has written that we need to “pace the frontier,” and Sam has agreed. People may be surprised by my response: go ahead.
You guys are the frontier. By any reasonable metric — market share, revenue growth, model capability — the two of you have a duopoly on frontier intelligence. You’ve also claimed the lead is widening because of recursive self-improvement.
I don’t see what you see in the lab. If the unreleased models are scary enough that you think you should slow down, I support your decision to be responsible.
But stop pretending you need anyone else’s permission. Stop pretending antitrust law has to be suspended so you can form a cartel. Stop pretending you need a regulatory approval process that supersedes product liability. Stop pretending METR is independent when it is intertwined with Anthropic’s investors and staff. Stop pretending you need those same evaluators to police competitors who aren’t even at the frontier.
Most of all, stop pretending the motivation to slow down is purely altruistic. You face massive product-liability exposure if your products enable a truly damaging cyberattack. The market already punishes models that behave in unpredictable or unauthorized ways. After the Hugging Face episode, it is simply good business for OpenAI and Anthropic to trade some raw power for reliability and predictability. Call it alignment if you want. It is also just giving customers what they want.
Pacing the frontier would also create breathing room for a more intelligent conversation about regulation than Bernie Sanders’ “shut it all down.” China is very unlikely to join a global agreement, as you know, and that has to be taken into account as well.
So go ahead and pace the frontier. You are the ones setting it. The easiest way not to build superintelligence is for you to agree not to build it. Demanding your preferred regulatory framework as the price of that will look like blackmail of the public and the political system. So just do it.
If you do, you’ll buy goodwill for the next conversation. If you don’t, we’ll know this was just another bid for regulatory capture — or an election-season psyop.

Fa troppo caldo, bisogna rinviare l’inizio dell’anno scolastico a ottobre.

Trump made billions off of TRUMP and MELANIA and then pulled the ladder up behind him. Incredible lmao.
History will remember this as the moment a president chose a higher standard of ethics than the law required of him. This agreement bans ALL federal officials — including the President — from issuing or sponsoring a digital asset for profit, with real enforcement and real penalties.
Thank you, @POTUS! Let's get the Clarity Act passed NOW.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump previously launched the $TRUMP and $MELANIA meme coins, which generated substantial revenue for Trump-affiliated entities and prompted bipartisan ethics concerns over public officials profiting from digital assets.
