I just want one thing and it’s @OscarPiastri on pole. Let’s do it, my sweet wombat prince.

What’s funny is that my teachers talked extensively about racism, sexism, we learned about apartheid in South Africa and the Holocaust - but in the 90s having empathy and realizing racism and sexism are real weren’t markers for being a democrat or republican. Not like today
When you were a kid in school did you have the slightest clue of your teachers' political views? I did not.

The cutest smothering device you’ve ever seen
Is there one for adults?

Nature is healing
The 23 year old woman who just cut my hair had never heard of Gwyneth Paltrow.

Hot take: pin trading would be more fun if it was 100% fake and everyone knew it. The fake pins are cute, hard to detect, and cheap. Ppl are just mad about paying $20 for a “real” pin and trading it for something worth $1. The fun part of trading isn’t “getting a good $ deal”
One weird thing that happened in Disneyland Paris is I tried to trade with one of the cast pin boards and they said no and that my pin was fake even though it had the Mickey-imprint back because it was "too shiny" 😭 Haven't tried to trade in years but now I'm scared to

Thanks algorithm, I guess I’m giving circus vibes

Of course, the Tooth Fairy pays for teeth with $2 bills. My kids have a bunch of them that they spend on school dances and craft supplies!

Whitewashing the uncomfortable parts of the past doesn't just affect Black stories. For example, you can't fully appreciate how a peanut farmer from Plains, GA became a beloved president unless you know TRUE Black History. The unwhitewashed history of Jimmy Carter: A thread.

The magazine did market research to determine what kind of people buy issues at the grocery store checkout, and then figured out what was “sexy” to that demographic, I’m guessing women over age 50. This is engineered to sell mags, it ain’t the Nobel Prize. And I ❤️ John Krasinski
People has named John Krasinski the Sexiest Man Alive of 2024.

I just read the paper in full; it is even more spectacular than I initially thought. A short thread about the results and their significance.
This is the best paper written so far about the impact of AI on scientific discovery

There seem to be grave concerns about the integrity of the research. MIT announced that they "conducted an internal, confidential review and concluded that the paper should be withdrawn from public discourse." economics.mit.edu/news/assuring-… wsj.com/tech/ai/mit-sa…

It is insane to me that our justice system would decide “a president can’t be put in prison for treason”, instead of “someone who is going to prison for treason can’t be president.” Literally cannot comprehend.

I was just waxing nostalgic about the good old days when elections actually presented viable choices. Now we choose between fascism and not-fascism and I can’t imagine disagreeing with my partner on that choice.
I know a couple who just broke up because they support different presidential candidates. They're in their early 30's and have been dating over a year. That's insane, right? You can't have different opinions on policies and still love each other?

Sorry, these are amazing. “Mown poupe” is the EXACT shade of accidentally running a lawnmower over dog poop and it mixes with grass cuttings on the mower blade, but a little fancier, hence the posh spelling of “poop”.
