Nostalgia is it's own form of brain-rot. Try using most DVD extra-feature menus and not get annoyed... we didn't "forget" how to make creative UIs, we just realized that 90% of "creative" UIs were borderline unusable.

"but muh win-amp skins" win-amp was a program you could learn to use WITHOUT a UI vis-a-vis keyboard shortcuts. Once you were a power user, you could use ANY skin you wanted because the UI was extraneous to your UX.

As an aside: I suspect they poured a lot of money into the design of the xbox menu because it functioned as an extra advertisement at demo stations in stores (remember those?). It looks cool because it's supposed to get children in Target begging their mom to get them one.

Progs should trade removing the cap (a meaningless gesture) for BPD's union renegotiating their deal with BIA, which would free up 6 officers for regular patrol duty. Dems probably wouldn't go for it, because BPD union whinging about the cap is just political theater.

It also really grinds my gears that the Airport security exclusively comes from BPD. The airport touches S. Burlington, Winooski, Essex, and commercially benefits Colchester, Williston, etc. It should be collectively staffed
