This a mammoth long read about my home town of #Nottingham it is a failed City and at length I arugue why #battleofideas .@acadofideas @Fox_Claire @MrsEmmaWebber @drsanjoykumar
Nottingham is a failed city. It has been destroyed by deindustrialisation, Labour Party dominance and a public sector allergic to accountability. From the Nottingham attacks to the maternity-care scandal, the consequences have been lethal, says Lisa McKenzie

In Charles Dickens' "Bleak House", Ms. Jellyby neglects her family while she spends all her time writing letters for her overseas causes. There is nothing new under the sun.

On Nov 20th, 1975, ‘Trail Of The Lonesome Pine' by Laurel & Hardy entered the UK singles chart at No.35. The song made it to number 2, but was held off the number 1 spot by Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody.

🎭 Would love to revive this two-woman 👭comedy play I wrote and toured years ago. With the cost of living soaring 💰 and politics still rife with corrupt, self-serving morons, the themes are even more relevant today than they were back then. 🔎 Any producers fancy having a look at it? #theatre #comedyplay #comedy

I've just watched an excellent documentary about the sublime Joyce Grenfell called Comedy With Breeding, and felt compelled to post one of her monologues. I know her most famous work is the "George, don't do that", nursery monologue, but she wrote hundreds, and fortunately many were filmed. Here's one of my favourites called Lady in Church.
By the way, if you'd like to watch the documentary, I've added it to the Comedy Playlist on my YouTube channel, a link for which you will find in my linktree thingumyjig.
Good day.

I wrote this last year. About how damaging unemployment and poverty is to the mental & physical health of the working class. Obviously the middle class not getting the interesting work they feel their class deserves is not part of this argument

I'm in Manchester for pur play SixTeen come and see it today 2pm & 7pm
But I can see Manchester now rivals London with empty luxury apartments bought as investments not housing. And there are homeless families in the hotel I'm staying in; Is the Manchesterism at work? Because its shite.
