Nice bit of copywriting. Completely missed by the 100s of dorks in the replies asking if it flies.

Fondly?
We're going to look back at one-size-fits-all software the way we look at the three-channel TV era

Slop isn’t a means of production, a medium, a visual treatment, an eyebrow, or a particular typeface. It’s a lack of care and effort.
someone told me using Inter font feels like ai slop, cus it's the most used font which ai has adopted

First speakers announced for Orbit (more to come). And you can now request a ticket. Nice.
Ticket requests for Orbit (by Linear) are now open. Join us in San Francisco on Dec 9 for an exploration of the future of product development: If we can produce more software than ever, what does it take to make it good? orbit.linear.app

Agree with this. Humans recognise effort, whether that is in learning a craft, the production process, material sourcing. The less human effort, the less perceived value. Hand made became a luxury signifier in the machine age, in part, because mass production became distasteful.
Counter argument: Not only is taste subjective, it's a moving target. As soon as [tasteful thing] becomes easily replicable, it stops being tasteful. Taste is a status game with a strong defensibility mechanism. That's why the term is so fuzzy and ill-defined. Vagueness is the whole point. It's meant to be hard to copy.

We will (and are already seeing) something similar with AI. Apple ads now come with proof of human labour. Not that AI itself is inherently distasteful, some great work is and has been produced with it. But it’s the human labour we still recognise.

Nobody would have liked the Quartr posters if they were simply button presses. And when that same output becomes possible with a button press, it will have lost most of its value.

The best way to create nice things is to hire experts and put some effort in. There isn't a shortcut for that yet (and there might never be).

You can just save a copy for free. And it'll be the exact same video.
Opus 5.5 High was able to recreate this with just a few sentences. SFX wise AI is no where near as good as you. VFX wise, I dunno it's pretty similar. This costed $70 and took 2 hrs with 14 version iterations. 1st version was good enough but wanted to get it frame by frame similar. Let me know if I should drop the sauce on how to make this 👀

Cool - can I use this now @polar_sh?
Knew I'd seen something like this before so binned it. Now I know where I saw it.

Would be funny after this entire shit show if this was just rushed slop for the announcement and they end up doing exactly what I suggested in the first place (hiring a master craftsperson to redraw the crest). Either way, I hope they do. xitter.cf/caelin_sutch/status/21…
This is a good dunk from Joe (who is definitely not mad) but I already ruled myself out as an unqualified saas designer. My point is that crests can be and are redrawn (as has been done here), tidying up details and not introducing new mistakes like the star alignment...

Deleted, which is a shame because it was actually a good response to the perceived flaws in what has been shared so far.
