I do not care that Macklemore was kicked off a tour. Macklemore will be fine.
I care that Jewish Americans are roughly 2% of the population but were targeted in 14% of all reported hate-crime incidents in the FBI’s 2025 data.
I care that an antisemitic terrorist drove an explosives-laden truck into a Jewish synagogue and preschool while more than 100 children were inside. We came terrifyingly close to a mass slaughter—and I am furious that so many people have already forgotten.
I care that Jewish institutions must now spend more than $1 billion every year protecting themselves from antisemitic violence—money that should be feeding seniors, educating children, and strengthening communities.
I mourn every innocent life lost in Israel and Gaza. And I am enraged by people who devote more energy to harassing, othering, and endangering Jews around the world than to doing anything meaningful to advance peace.
People like Macklemore traffic in antisemitic rhetoric and imagery, amplify propaganda, and then dismiss antisemitism as mere “criticism of Israel.” They cast themselves as moral crusaders while bearing none of the consequences.
They light the match and walk away. We are left to live in the fire.

I am at my favorite Saturday morning bakery for coffee and these two women with free range toddlers and an unleashed cattle dog just sat down at the next table. “You’re not listening to me,” one says as she tries to get the dog to stay. Love dogs. Love toddlers. Hate these women.
Eventually she gets the dog leashed and tethered to the table, but then she takes the leash off again. The dog comes to say hi to us and the people next to us, and the woman, who has literally just removed the leash, comes to get him, saying “how’d you get loose?”

Saw my oldest friend and her whole family last night for a too-short visit. Her parents are both in their 90s, mine nearly 97, and as we compare notes she told me this saying: every old person needs ten children.

Yes, those Israelis protesting at the Gaza border are sick and openly genocidal. Their actions and rhetoric deserve the strongest possible condemnation. But calling Israeli society “the most genocidal society on earth” is a disgusting act of collective dehumanization.
You can’t dehumanize an entire population for the actions of a group—we, as Palestinians, know exactly what that feels like. After October 7th, the world rushed to dehumanize all of us because of the actions of a few.
No society is immune to extremism. But Israeli society is also home to people who take to the streets day after day, holding photos of Gaza’s dead children and demanding an end to the war. Even at the Gaza border yesterday, there were Israelis who showed up to confront those extremist demonstrators.
Blanket vilification is lazy, dangerous, and no different from the hatred and racism inflicted on Palestinians. We should reject collective demonization no matter who the target is.
Enough. Stop it.

Dehumanization of Palestinians in Israel started way before October 7.
As dehumanization of Israelis by Arabs started long time ago.
The internet gives us incredible tool to change it, to learn about each other, to see the other side’s pain and ambitions.
But alas, it only increases the hate.
