Yup
User interfaces are not going away. Yes, humans will use computers alongside agents. When working with agents, we will need the ability to audit what agents do in a human-readable way. Yes, some interfaces (ex: dashboards, in-chat UI for ephemeral tasks, etc) will be generated. Most important interfaces will be intentionally designed. We will want both deterministic and non-deterministic interfaces in different situations. We're thinking a lot about the best ways to help designers shape non-deterministic systems at Figma. Yes, new input modalities like voice, VR/AR and BCI will change the way we use computers and introduce lots of new interaction paradigms. This is all very exciting :) Overall, the surface area of design will continue to grow much broader. Design is the new code and the key differentiator for software moving forward. Expect more and more energy to go into design / craft in the years ahead... it will be how you win or lose. Eric is right about plenty of things, but the market will prove him wrong on this one...

every designer right now is extremely conflicted. On one hand we all have extreme respect for Sir Jony and the LoveFrom team. On the other hand.. the gut feeling that this feels more like a prius than a sporty, desirable, groundbreaking $640k Ferrari EV at first glance. Even the sounds used in the reveal video feel more like Apple DNA than Ferrari
Ferrari has just officially unveiled its first ever all-electric car, called the Ferrari Luce. • Starting price: $640,000 • Interior co-designed with Apple's former head of design, Jony Ive • Range: 280 miles (expected EPA) • Peak charging speed: 350kW • 122 kWh battery • 1,050 horsepower • 0-60mph: 2.4s • 800v • Four-door four-seater • Four electric motors • OLED screens • Weight: 4,982 lbs • Front motors spin to 30,000 rpm, rears hit 25,500 rpm • Car uses an accelerometer to capture real vibrations from the electric motors & rear chassis. An algorithm filters out unpleasant frequencies and amplifies only the more “musical” sounds. This can be heard inside and outside the car. • Paddle shifter on steering wheel changes how aggressively torque is delivered, with five different levels • The trunk has 21.1 cubic feet of space, the largest luggage capacity the company has ever offered • 197.6 inches long, about as long as a Tesla Model S U.S. deliveries start in Q2 2027. Indeed!
An excellent essay on design (and thinking) from Karri. Must read.

Yes, let’s tax billionaire as if they were not billionaires!
The problem isn’t government waste. The problem is that billionaires don’t pay taxes.

Once a criminal always a criminal!
Saying "if I'm president elect I'll get it done (peace in Israel) before I'm even inaugurated" is a confession to a federal crime under the Logan Act.

Monday thoughts: 1. The only way to understand the present moment is to have a deep understanding of the interplay between historical networks representing competing worldviews. 2. The two primary worldviews in competition at the moment are propertarian hierarchy vs. democratic institutionalism. 3. It should not be surprising that two billionaires from propertarian Apartheid South Africa are trying to install a President and Vice President. 4. None of this is new — the Civil War was fought over propertarian hierarchy. 5. Crooks was teased; he aimed to kill a President, to become the apex predator in a hierarchical worldview. 6. It's just a matter of time until Musk admits to weaponizing private messages on this platform; plan accordingly. 7. Musk is leading a networked insurgency. Each of you: lead your own. Women understand the implications of propertarian hierarchy and patriarchy. Refuse to go back. Women know the way forward — and that's literally on the ballot. Onward!

Friday thoughts: 1. Republicans plan to steal the election, reprising and expanding attacks from 2000, 2016, 2018, and 2020. 2. These attacks depend on popular support and can be curbed with overwhelming numerical superiority. 3. Anticipating and publicizing the attacks and their exact makeup can help states better prepare. 4. Georgia and Fulton County are particular targets and should be blanketed with PR campaigns that let the public know what’s up. 5. The danger is that the election simply won’t be certified — even in places where Trump wins. 6. Biden is president, not Trump, and won’t be using the Pentagon to help steal the election. He also has very broad authority to intervene to force certification, if necessary. 7. Administrations in WI, PA, MI, AZ are Democratic and will not aid and abet an effort to steal the election. 8. If the Trump camp really thought RFK Jr would harm him more than Harris, they’d pull him. Do not celebrate RFK Jr’s presence on any ballot. More than ever, this election outcome will be rooted in a psychological war for who people “feel” won. Do the work to ensure overwhelming numerical superiority that cannot be questioned. Onward!

I cannot say enough great things about Hey email and now calendar. If you want to free yourself from the shackles of Gmail now is the time to try Hey with their new 30 day trial.
For a limited time, we've extended the HEY.com trial period from 14 days to 30 days. We're curious to see what happens. So, if you've been thinking of trying HEY, now's a particularly good time to come on over. hey.com

Excellent thread! Please do what you can and lets hope the criminal far-right MAGA motherfuckers get LOCKED UP!
A Trump dictatorship is not inevitable. But it is increasingly possible. In this thread I suggest 10 WAYS YOU CAN STOP REPUBLICAN FASCISM. Please share this 🧵 if you agree and want to help us stop MAGA from destroying democracy.

Google reads your email more than you do. If they can sell it, Gmail extracts it. Your personal information fuels their algorithm, which, in turn, allows them to extract even more. Your purchases, your location, the content of your email, your photos, audio, video, your search history, and “other data types”. The works. What was privately yours, is now theirs. And what do you get for it? “Free” email? That’s not a fair trade. You’re worth much more than that. hey.com/no-data-extraction/
