Finally, a big shout out to our current Guild committee members and fearless leader @HunterPaniagua who guided us through the bargaining process. It was a truly collaborative effort and we are all thrilled to have crossed the finish line. Now, let’s celebrate a #FairContractNOW!

It’s been a long time coming and this contract ratification wouldn’t have been possible without the help of our past Guild committee members @Caroline94127, @dustingardiner, @ByLHernandez, @TalKopan, @Shwanika and @SarRavani. We thank you all for your work!

SF Chronicle/SFGATE member involvement was instrumental in achieving this contract. Over the past 2 years, members showed up to bargaining sessions, generated action campaigns, and took part in a newsroom-wide lunch out. Each action resulted in movement at the bargaining table.

This agreement represents a big step in ensuring fair pay, improved benefits and working conditions for all of our employees. We're proud of the progress made during negotiations and believe these changes will contribute to a more prosperous and fulfilling future for our members.

Some highlights from the agreement include:
- Minimum salary of $73k, believed to be the highest minimum of any major unionized newsroom in the U.S.
- Guaranteed minimum 2% raise each year.
- Increased time off, expansion of paid parental leave to 8 weeks for CA-based employees.

Good journalism isn't cheap & neither is the area where our @pdguild members live and report. Over 1/2 of the unit at The Press Democrat, Petaluma Argus-Courier, Sonoma Index-Tribune & North Bay Business Journal are low income earners. None make enough to live comfortably.

As we have said since the beginning of negotiations, this contract is more than an investment in us. This is an investment in the future of @nytimes, in our readers and in the public that we serve.
The Press Democrat Guild retweeted
After more than two years of negotiations, we can finally say it: @NYTimesGuild and @nytimes have reached a tentative agreement on a groundbreaking new collective bargaining agreement.

Today I participated in a lunch out with my co-workers as we continue our fight for a fair contract.
Too many of my talented colleagues - especially the newer ones - can’t afford to live in the community they cover.
I’m marching for a future of quality local journalism.

Solidarity with workers at NBC News, MSNBC, and the Today Show who will walk out on a one-day strike tomorrow. ✊
Over 200 @NBCNews, @MSNBC, and @TODAYshow journalists are walking off the job tomorrow.
NBC has repeatedly broken the law, disrespected the rights of its employees, and illegally terminated hard-working union journalists. Enough is enough.

Today, The Washington Post laid off 20 of our colleagues.
While 20 is much smaller than 200 — “a single digit percentage of the workforce,” as Publisher Fred Ryan indicated, that’s little consolation to those who lost their jobs today.
That number should be zero.
