We need to talk about how important interactive play is in learning. An essay.

The week that we launched our AI tutor Koji, āAIā as a topic was getting commencement speakers booed off stage.
We were worried the launch was doomed, but instead it went super viral.
Why?
It turns out people arenāt āanti-AIā.
Theyāre anti-idiocracy, anti-job replacement, anti-slop.
But if you show them a product that will help them and their kids be better thinkers, theyāll embrace it.
A positive, pro-social vision of AI is hugely resonant.
Thanks @Jason @twistartups for having me on!

School conditioned generations of kids to ask: āWill this be on the test?ā
The next generation will ask: āHow far can I go?ā
Just spent an hour with daughter learning CS 101 from @brilliantorg

POV: Thinking is cool again
Insane response to the launch!
I tripled the # of gift invites and only have a few left, then wrapping the promo.
But, Koji is generally available today on Brilliantās website/apps!
Thank you all so much for the support.
This launch is the culmination of 1+ year of work ā making tons of Algebra and coding interactives that teach through play, and developing the worldās first graphical tutor that helps you get unstuck, while never giving away the answer. So excited to bring this into the world!
Come work with Zack and me at @brilliantorg āĀ this is a unique opportunity to design the games we build to teach math, cs, science, logic, and data. The most fun and gratifying work I've gotten a chance to work on in my career!
weāre hiring product designers @brilliantorg

Iāll be speaking this Friday, September 29 at 12pm ET as part of the MIT Media Lab Lunch Lecture Series, āComputational Typography.ā As an alum of the Media Lab, Iām honored (and a bit nervous) to be speaking. Iāll be sharing experiments and designs Iāve made over the years...
...along with some thoughts about what fascinates us so much about letters. The talk will be free and open to the public, so it would be great to see you there. Read about the series and find the Zoom link here:Ā media.mit.edu/posts/lunch-leā¦
Working on something new, a stencil font with multi color possibilities. What do yāall think? What uses might this be good for?
Playing with p5.js and weight interpolation using my new typeface Peasy. Check it out at Typotopo.com
Designing across different media ā type design, product design ā a lot changes, but so much is the same. No matter what you are designing, when you're feeling stuck, you can call on the same tools to get un-stuck. uxdesign.cc/how-to-un-stuck-ā¦
Iām excited to announce the release of my first original font design into the world! Itās called Peasy, and it has been a labor of love, sweat, and tears. Peasy got its start in 2018, when I was a student in the Type@Cooper West extended program in SF.
I hope youāll check out my typeface. You can see it on my site at typotopo.com. Feel free to reach out if you have questions or suggestions. (And for a limited time you can use the coupon code EASYPEASY for half off your purchase.)
