The land we now call Israel has been invaded, captured, and destroyed over 50 times by various empires throughout history including the Persians, Hellenistic Greeks, Babylonians, Assyrians, Arabs, Romans, Seljuk Turks, Egyptians, Mamelukes, Crusaders, and the British, just to name some. That map is British, by the way, and refers to Israel by its Roman name.
