I'll start with this: I am not paranoid. But sometimes they really are out to get you.
Apple's services business has been a major growth engine of the company over the last 10 years - that consistently growing green line in the chart. 1/
Imagine a world of 18-24 months from now, when Apple blocks all DSPs and says they'll unblock them if they pay a 20% tax to Apple. And I would assume they will do the same in the mobile apps ad market. 5/
It's funny how the frontier models 6 months ago were clearly OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google. Now it's just OAI and Anthro. But Google, via AIO and AIMode, has the widest distribution. So Google seems to have ceded the high end and is going after the scaled but low-quality market
I would argue that the open web isn't dead and it won't die. It will be smaller (it already is) but it will also be better. The headwinds it faces are filtering out the best from the rest (although there will be collateral damage), and that will make it better. 1/
What the web needs most is better surfaces for ads. Scattered banner ads and outstream players are far from ideal. We've been working on this and have a lot of cool things that are working well, but the web needs a lot more of these ideas. 9/
I was kinda curious - in adtech twitter, how many people are familiar with the whole huggingface/chatgpt hack issue? Was talking to some people last night who weren't familiar and I was just wondering if that was small sample size or it wasn't broadly followed...

Thrilled to partner with you on this Paul. We have led on agentic execution for programmatic and we intend to lead on agentic execution for IOs.
So last week I alluded to the fact that we were finally getting an agentically-bought deal live, and it happened! Agentic has been the talk of the town for a while now, but from every conversation I've had, there really wasn't any volume (sans a handful of CTV deals)... 1/
After a lot of talk, it's great to get to tangible realities and start seeing how things work, how we need to improve, how to make more parts agentic, etc. One deal is already complete and we're getting our learnings there and the other is still running and we're optimizing. 3/
