I built a useful AI skill today to do daily business travel reports on wildfire, air quality, weather, power, infra status (tower outages) and also include the local repeater info. It sends both daily emails and push notifications if conditions change. #hamradio #emcomm

Amateur radio history survives because people saved it. Much more has been lost in attics, basements, and forgotten files. 📻 Kay Savetz writes about recovering magazines, recordings, manuals, and materials for the Digital Library of Amateur Radio and Communications. 📚 📚 "Digital Library of Amateur Radio and Communications" by Savetz is in VANISHING CULTURE. 📖 Download & read, FREE: archive.org/details/vanishin… #Booktwitter
Teal graphic for the Vanishing Culture series with the headline 'Why does a century-old hobby have almost no archive?' and a quote from Kay Savetz, Curator & Enthusiast: "The people creating history don't always realize at the time that they're creating history." A column of pixels dissolves beside the quote.

Today's Friday 5AM coffee project.. do a UX study on 9 SDR clients. I think on-screen radio UX has gotten worse and not better. #hamradio

Moved the exercise bike out of my office. @ring's push notification was fantastic. The follow up text message from my wife was hilarious.

Practicing my HF weak signal reception and pulled the Typhoon forecast in Japan early this morning. Needed some manual edits in Preview. Did you know Icom's have a hidden menu to disable AGC? #hamradio

After over a year of daily use, I can say that my @secretlabchairs chair is probably the worst chair I've bought. Poor lower back and groin support. I've sat on nicer camp chairs.

New macOS Golden Gate discovery: when you are plugged into Ethernet, the wifi menu bar icon now shows an Apple Ethernet icon. Dropdown shows your active BSD interface name too.

The updated screen sharing app in macOS Golden Gate is 100% worth the upgrade. Auth save finally works, full motion video/screen savers are just the cherry on top.

I wrote a little terminal wordsearch game during the pandemic to keep sane. It got a little coverage and ships with all of the BSDs now. After 4 years I picked it up today, and in Grok AI, completely rebuilt and hardened the score and terminal handling and added mouse support.
