Another article is published in the Journal of Political Power, titled: A systematic model of SMOs’ internal mechanisms: the ways institutionalization could enable or constrain social movement organizations’ inclusiveness tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.…
And most importantly, by comparing the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) and Extinction Rebellion Australia (XR Aus), this article finds that institutionalization is a ‘double-edged’ sword! Both SMOs struggle with diversity; minimal institutionalization can achieve higher equity, but
the less institutionalized group (XR Aus) evidenced lower procedural justice, impacting the perceived level of equity.

More importantly, experiences from XR Aus further suggest that SMOs need to carefully craft their tactics and strategies to address existing systematic injustice and marginalization of powerless communities.
Second, better clarity helps the two SMOs to educate and persuade core members, supporters, and the public regarding the moral solidarity and inclusiveness in climate action.
Leadership and trust are critical to understanding the relationships between leadership and social movements (Davis 2016). Instead of maintaining control of specific details, SMOs could have more flexibility and adaptability in actions within organizational principles.
In addition to the many supports I have received along the journey, I am grateful to the peer-reviewers' invaluable suggestions to strengthen the paper's discussion.
