🗞️Big results from Manchester #lungcancer #screening
🫁 It's difficult to measure how much real impact a programme has on the whole population, but we had the opportunity to study this in a region where screening has been offered since 2019

Thanks #WCLC2025 for letting me share findings from large collaboration between Manchester @LungCheck and Leeds @LungHealthCheck about upper age limit for #lungcancer #screening.
Particularly interesting that ≥75s who get to surgery do as well as 55-74yr olds. Age is a number!
Of course need to consider the evolving balance of risks/benefits of screening with age, but biological age varies widely. Hopefully we'll be able to develop new tools to identify & target more people who are likely to benefit.
