Seems like the most countercultural thing a Christian could do is love their political opponents in thought, word, & deed.

I live in the middle of nowhere Montana. The nearest Cheesecake Factory is a 10 hour drive… I mean… I don’t object to going, but I don’t go often. Mainly just on special occasions.

I asked 50 Japanese people, ages 9 to 91, one question. "What do you admire most about Americans?" Here are the top answers. 10. "They clap when the plane lands." (Office worker, 34) 9. "They say 'I love you' every time they hang up the phone. Even men. Even to other men." (Taxi driver, 61) 8. "A stranger told me she liked my shoes. Then she just walked away. She didn't want anything." (High school girl, 16) 7. "They thank the bus driver when they get off." (Bus driver, 55. He got emotional saying this.) 6. "They tell you their whole life story in the grocery line. I know about one man's divorce, his boat, and his knee surgery. We knew each other for four minutes." (My mother, 64) 5. "They stand for the anthem at a children's baseball game." (Little League coach, 47) 4. "When they lose, they shake hands and say 'good game.' And they mean it." (Sota, 12) 3. "They fly the flag on a regular Tuesday. No holiday. Just because." (Nurse, 28) 2. "They help a stranger push a car out of the snow, then leave without saying their name." (My cousin's husband, 52, who got stuck in Colorado once) And the number one answer came from the oldest person I asked. My grandfather. He's 91. He thought about it for a long time. Then he said: "They still believe tomorrow will be better than today." I asked him what he meant. "In 1946, we had nothing," he said. "The American soldiers I met were young and far from home. But they acted like the future was coming, and it was going to be good. After a while, we started to believe them." I asked him if he thought Americans still believe that. He nodded slowly. "Tell them," he said, "not to stop."

I don’t recall if I was following that account or not. Probably wasn’t. I’m pretty ADHD…. I miss a lot of stuff.

I completely missed that. It’s good that you’re OK.

It’s good to see you’re back. Improved my day noticeably. How is school?

Wow, you’re quite edgy. You approached me, man. I’m pointing out the difference between what you’re doing and what I’m doing. They did what I wanted. I’m responding. You’re railing against a corporation to strangers on the Internet. I’m not interested in that conversation.

She’s a pretty dog. It’s awful when people do not manage their dogs well. She looks to be very senior. Do you know how old she is?

When they did what I and everyone else asked them to do… we didn’t choose to have a fit about something else. That would be silly. They did what I asked. I responded in a positive way. Does that make sense?

Well, tweet at them about it. I and a few hundred thousand other people encouraged the company to stand behind him by not firing him. They didn’t. I’m responding to that. You can respond to whatever you want.

He’s a baby… just 2. Got him from the shelter the next town over. He was 3 months old when they got him & nearly starved to death… he had terrible parasites. We got him a month later. He’s 63% American pit bull, 30% German shepherd, Pits have terrible joints apparently.

Jack went to the vet today. His knee is looking good. He’s about a month away from being recovered from both knee surgeries. He gets to start going for longer and longer walks now. My rescue puppy will be healthy again soon.

So, somebody else is asking the same question as you? It doesn’t change that the company did what I asked him to do and I appreciate that. Be miserable with them. Would you prefer they fired him? Would you prefer they ignored social media because we’ll complain no matter what?

For now, I sort of feel like they did the thing I encouraged them to do… so I’m not mad. Feel free to be mad all you want.

It does suck that he had to work a lot of hours to get by. I don’t know why that is. He apparently said that he would telling his story… I’m pretty interested to hear it. I’m willing to bet he’s not going to talk about how Schwans enslaved him. If he does, I’ll protest them.
