Something that slipped media attention because of the fireworks in the gulf is how Modi & Carney executed a full 180 degree turn, repairing a relationship we thought irreparable. Last year India is “isolated”, “a global embarrassment”, and a “foreign policy failure” they screamed. They claimed India would be excluded from the G7 which it had traditionally been invited to as part of the extended G20. Nope - didn’t happen. Why? Because India stuck to its guns, didn’t respond to boxer/bouncer/love-child Justin Castro’s gutter politics & quietly but firmly demanded proof. Carney’s India visit over the last few days has cemented ties to the extent that he is actively excluding khalistanis from Canadian politics. Why? Because unlike bouncer baby Castro, he doesn’t need the drug-money the Khalistanis bring - he can raise finances from legal sources. And he understands the point India has been making calmly and firmly these last 10 years - that crime is fungible and the Khalistan racket is basically organised crime masked as a “liberation movement” that is hollowing out and corrupting Canadian politics. Yes it took a serious leader on the Canadian side to change the game - but it took an equally serious leader on the Indian side to not respond to incessant provocations and take the long view. This is the reason Modi is a pro and Nehru was an amateur - no matter what you throw at Modi he stays unflappable - unlike Nehru who was just an aged version of Justin Castro or Rahul who is a younger and even more uncouth version of Krishna Menon.

If you want to say this woman's death is a tragedy, that we should pray for her soul as Christians and Americans, then I agree with you.
But the media dishonesty about this officer is an all-time moment in shameless press propaganda.
Does this law enforcement officer have a family? Yes. Did he he get seriously injured by a vehicle just six months ago? Yes. Did he have reason to fear for his life? Yes. Does he have every right to safety while he's doing his job? Yes.
I want our law enforcement officers to do their jobs and come home safely to their family. If you don't like the immigration policy of the Trump administration, attack me. Leave our law enforcement alone.
And it's time for the press to finally tell the truth about this story.

3 ways to deal with Trump
Fight back when you have leverage like China or when you have nothing to lose, like Cuba, Colombia.
Surrender when you are totally dependent, like Europe, Japan, UK.
Ignore him if you don't fall into either category. Build leverage so you are ready when the next Trump comes. Modi Ji is ignoring him. I hope India builds leverage. Will take years.

I just figured out why the Minnesota ICE death is bothering me so much.
This liberal woman was willing to take on federal agents, to disrupt ICE operations, in order to protect criminal Somalis.
Obviously, she probably didn't imagine she would be killed. But surely, she must have known that, at the very least, she could be arrested.
She has three kids. So she was willing to be separated from her kids to protect criminal Somalis.
Speaking as a mother, this is insanity. This is not rational thinking.
What it is, instead, is the result of liberal brainrot that convinces progressive women they have more of a duty to nurture and protect poor, brown (criminal!) strangers than their own country, and hell, even their own children.
I am praying for this woman's soul and for her family. But I mean it when I say this type of thinking is almost wholly responsible for the decline of Western civilization.

How long do you think HDFC Bank will take to transfer the money from your account to your nominee's after you die? Public sector banks get a bad rap, but it's been more than a year and we have not been able to get funds transferred from my now deceased husband's account in the country's largest private bank.
The nominee is our adult daughter, there are no conflicting claims, the paperwork is clear, and yet for more than a year now HDFC has been giving us the run around. Get this paper, get that paper. Each time my daughter comes home for holidays, we have to take 2 days out to go and wait at the bank branch. Today, more than a year after the first application, they said
a) we can't find the paperwork including the death certificate you submitted because the employee you submitted to is not here
b) you have to get a stamp paper and notarise it for the auto debits that hit his account between the date of his death and the date the account was frozen (on the basis of the paperwork in point a, now non-traceable)
c) you have to get HDFC Standard life to sign off because there is an auto debit for an investment from his account. (ME: they are the payee, he is the payer, why does the payee need to approve stopping a standing instruction? Bank: Hamare main aise hi hai). If you wait for 30 minutes, we'll get you the form.
d) after 30 minutes. Sorry, we can't get the form, you have to go to their office and do it.
By now it is 2.45 PM, HDFC Standard life office is at least 35 minutes away. They are open only till 3.30 PM. We are not sure we'll make it there on time. I call their number to ask if the branch is open tomorrow. Person: Sorry, I can't give you the information today, you will have to call and check tomorrow. (To repeat: HDFC Standard Life's call centre cannot tell you if a branch is working or not the following day)
In all, we have spent many hours over many months trying to get this money in a case the bank officials themselves say "should not be complicated". What is worse is for my 20-year-old daughter to relive the trauma of losing her father each time we have to go and explain the case. Just today, we had to speak to three different people and start the story from the beginning. This is not just the bank's inefficiency, it is its utter callousness. (My husband also had money in Indusind Bank. It took one visit and two weeks for that to be transferred).
The other, more important point, is that I have a job, we have the money to continue to pay for our needs without having to immediately access these funds. But I am certain that is not the case for many others. What about them? How can this be the system of a bank whose customers are dependent on it for giving them access to their own money?! It beggars belief.
