The president of the most powerful country in the world on the Nobel Peace Prize. This is not Artificial Intelligence. It's Authentic Embarrassment:
US President Donald Trump said that Norway’s decision to not award him a Nobel Peace Prize is disgraceful and embarrassing, and has left an 'indelible stain' on the country. ICJ judge Navi Pillay was awarded the prize for her efforts to prosecute genocide and war crimes.

everything that Anne Carson has written is risky & original in some (unpredictable) way. truly an unclassifiable imagination-- poet, translator, essayist, philosopher, observer of the vicissitudes of life; we'd met just once decades ago at Princeton where Anne Carson was an instructor in the Classics Dept. & I was--hypothetically--just a "visitor" for one year in Creative Writing.
not predictable that Anne would move on, & on, & on to numerous universities & I would remain at Princeton; now hoping that she is in Canada & not caught up in toxic US politics so antithetical to the humanism & freedom of the imagination required for the soul to breathe.

The 2026 #NobelPrize in Literature is awarded to the Canadian author Anne Carson, “for her bold and inventive oeuvre that, in playful dialogue with the classical tradition, has created new forms for contemporary literature.”

Anne Carson – awarded the 2026 #NobelPrize in Literature – once described boredom as her arch-enemy. It is a state she confronts with drastic humour and wit.
‘The Beauty of the Husband: A Fictional Essay in 29 Tangos’, published in 2001, tells of a cutting and sardonic row with a deceitful husband, its twenty-nine episodes each opening with lines of verse by the romantic poet John Keats. Keats’s sublime words about beauty being truth are, in brutal yet playful fashion, juxtaposed with this exhausting relationship drama.

What is normal in Gaza today after Israel's destruction? Insects, rats, reptiles, flies and mosquitoes are everywhere, as is sewage flooding the streets. People cooking over a fire, washing clothes by hand, living without electricity or running water. trib.al/B39XlVg
