My guest episode of @bbcpoetryplease is available now!
Another chance to hear @bbcpoetryplease with @pascalepoet as @McgoughRoger's guest. Among her choices from listener requests were poems by Niall Campbell and Moniza Alvi. Pascale also read a poem from her ninth collection Beast. Rebroadcast 19 August.

Here I am trying to write in the heat, and reading to prep for my climate hyperfocus course when Dean Atta posts a pic of my What the Water Gave Me in situ at the Frida Kahlo show at Tate Modern! I knew @SerenBooks reprinted it especially for that but haven’t seen it myself

I wrote two sonnets today, and yesterday I wrote a new poem and found the end of the one I wrote the day before. This follows a few weeks of nothing. It’s such relief to write again! How are you writing?

The 2027 Writers’ & Artists’ Yearbook is out! They have reprinted my essay, ‘Perseverance in Getting Poetry Published’. It’s surreal – I spent decades scouring this bible for tips & insights before I published. Happy 120th anniversary @Writers_Artists

Next week I will record a programme about the life & times of E.O. Wilson for the BBC series ‘Great Lives’. A truly brilliant scientist dubbed ‘Darwin’s Heir’ & ‘the father of biodiversity’. His work has been an inspiration for me since my undergraduate days, & remains so today.
Big thanks @Poetry_London & Freya Jackson for an insightful review of Beast 💚🐆🦌💚

My copy of Resurgence & Ecologist has arrived, with a double page spread on 2 of my poems and an introduction by poetry editors Rachel Marsh and Briony Hughes! It’s a superb issue ‘The inner work of liberation’ packed with fab features. You can order here

After a rejection, even a considered kind one, comes the will to improve & try again, the inevitable depression. You must keep balance & faith – being a poet is a constant negotiation with equilibrium, keeping a core of self belief so one day the next good poem can come

We’re delighted to welcome #PascalePetit to the #ArtSonnetChain, especially as she’s not only written a fine sonnet, but let it give rise in turn to an artwork.
