We'll be going offline in 2 weeks on Oct 17th. We hope Partychat has been as helpful & wonderful a part of your lives as it has been for us.
Special thanks to @vijayp for financially supporting and maintaining Partychat for the last few years.
Sad news: Partychat shutting down. We can no longer maintain it, usage has declined, and there are numerous group chat alternatives now.
If you use @partychat, please fill out this survey to help us understand how you use our service: bit.ly/1C4McFk
Hey guys, we're performing some maintenance -- partychat might be up a bit unreliable for the next day or two.
We realise Google's migration to Hangouts breaks @partychat due to removal of XMPP federation support. We are considering workarounds...
I'm going to be testing out a new Partychat server. Please let me know if you see weird behaviour in the next 20 minutes! cc @vijayp
Migration to new server done. If chatrooms are offline, log out and back into your chat client. Tweet @partychat or @vijayp for problems.
We're moving to a new server -- might have transient failures of ~ 30 min or until the DNS caches expire
Attempting to add a new node to the cluster to split the load and for redundancy. Should hopefully not cause any downtime ...
Google has fixed the bug(?) and we're trying to revert to im.partych.at (messages may go to either domain for a while) cc @vijayp
Re: temp move to [email protected] -- once 1 person switches & says something, all members will be invited to the new address
We still hope to get [email protected] working again, but for now, invite [email protected] via your client. Same room, new name.
Waiting/hoping someone at Google fixes their XMPP stuff. We might be able to temporarily migrate to another domain at some point tomorrow...
Status update. Google's XMPP servers are not correctly connecting to our XMPP servers, only for im.partych.at... bad cached state?
It appears as if gmail's XMPP servers are suddenly declaring our dailback tokens invalid. Anyone understand XMPP dialback and/or ejabberd?
