Web3 belongs in the mainstream. @BillLaboon joined Good Morning Britain @GMB yesterday to discuss our latest research on privacy, data, and the everyday internet. This is the work we love! We take the ideas behind Web3 beyond our industry and into the conversations shaping how people think about the future of the web.

You can't decentralize a physical computer. It's still a machine in a room, running under someone's control. But you can decentralize computation. If independent machines execute the same deterministic logic and agree on the result, the computation no longer depends on any single computer. That's the deeper idea behind blockchains. The @Polkadot ecosystem is taking this further through its work on JAM and Polkadot Products, spanning permissionless computation, verifiable services, content-addressed storage, identity, and other network capabilities. The point is to decentralize trust in computation, enabling a more human-controlled internet. A thought from the Hong Kong stop of the JAM Tour with @pala_labs.

Can you trust what you see online? Karim Jedda (@KarimJDDA), Engineering Director at @paritytech, examines a growing problem for the internet: content can now be generated faster than humans can verify it. The challenge is not simply that AI can produce convincing content. A small number of actors can also create the appearance of many independent people through automated accounts, fabricated identities and manipulated reputation signals. Follower counts, ratings and verification badges are no longer sufficient guarantees of authenticity. Karim presents a different approach: cryptographic proof of personhood that allows someone to prove they are a unique human without revealing their identity. Developed at Parity and built on @Polkadot, the Humanity system treats decentralization as a security requirement for this kind of infrastructure. The question becomes less about making information impossible to fake, and more about making its provenance and authenticity verifiable. Watch the full talk (2nd tweet):

All week, you’ve heard about the need for more regulation and safety concerns around AI. We're looking at this through a slightly different lens. Consider this... The biggest beneficiaries of tougher AI rules may actually be the companies those rules are meant to keep in check, because if only the largest labs can afford compliance, regulation can become a moat, and AI governance should reduce concentrated power, not lock it in. Either way, it's a debate. If you’re not sure what we mean by the call for tougher AI rules. Some refs below👇 📸 Credit: Stop the AI Race / Rachel Shu

AI agents can remove friction from decentralized systems, but ofc, the same efficiency can also apply to attackers. At the @SALTConference, Web3 Foundation VP of Technical Ops @BillLaboon spoke with @TheBlockCo about the security, privacy, and trust questions emerging as AI agents become more capable. His concerns range from metadata leakage to giving hallucinating models control over important financial decisions.

@Polkadot is moving from infrastructure to products. The Devnet gives builders an early look at a web without centralized intermediaries—before the production network goes live. Markets chase announcements. Real investors watch when architecture becomes usable. This is where the next Polkadot chapter begins.
Is the decentralised and intermediary-free web here? Almost. The Polkadot Products Devnet is a working copy of the upcoming production network and Polkadot Products. And now it has been shared with you. What does this mean exactly? A new way to ship applications. Your domain isn't rented. It's yours. No renewals. No expiry date. No registrar that can take it back. Your app lives on-chain, served by the network. Getting-started guide in the article below 👇 What are you waiting for?

Been testing Polkadot's new Web3 app platform. Funny how crypto spent years inventing: staking, restaking, liquid restaking, DeFi on DeFi... just to discover that maybe the real innovation was building fucking apps. Is it perfect? Nope. Is it early? Yes. Does it work? Somehow.

The Polkadot Products Devnet is getting more interesting. NFT creation, collaborative art, music tools, verifiable games, retro gaming and ecosystem analytics are already live, with more experiments appearing as builders explore what the stack can do. Worth spending some time clicking around. Learn more at docs.polkadotcommunity.found…

Bots are cheap. People are not. At the latest Polkadot sub0 event, Shawn Tabrizi (@shawntabrizi), lead developer for Polkadot at Parity Technologies and an Architect in the Polkadot Fellowship, sat down with @DefiantNews. Their conversation explored one of blockchain’s most difficult challenges: how to verify that an online participant is a unique human without exposing their identity. As bots become increasingly difficult to distinguish from real people, digital platforms need more than another CAPTCHA or account-verification process. Shawn explained how Individuality and privacy-preserving Proof of Personhood could establish that one participant represents one real person, rather than thousands of automated accounts controlled by the same actor. The objective is not to collect personal information, connect activity to a legal identity or create another centralized identity database. It is to prove uniqueness while preserving privacy. Solving this problem could unlock new possibilities across the Polkadot ecosystem: • limited free transactions for verified people • stronger resistance to spam and automated abuse • fairer governance and voting mechanisms • rewards distributed to individuals rather than wallets • digital communities built around genuine human participation Most blockchains currently rely on transaction fees or financial requirements to limit Sybil attacks. These mechanisms help protect networks, but they also create barriers to participation and can give greater influence to those with more capital. Proof of Personhood introduces a different model: access based on being human, rather than on how much money someone controls. This could make blockchain applications more accessible, harder to manipulate and better suited to real-world use. Its implications may also extend beyond blockchain, providing a foundation for digital services that need to distinguish genuine human participation from automated activity without compromising privacy. Systems designed around people rather than accounts, wallets and bots. The long-term opportunity is not simply to verify who is human. It is to build digital systems where participation is fair, privacy is preserved and every person is recognized as an individual rather than another account. That is what a more human internet could look like.

Been playing with Polkadot desktop app and it clicked, a widget is a .dot product (app / widget / worker) on DotNS subnames, shipped on-chain (devnet's live). Built 9 this week. Favourite: an OpenGov widget with live approval + support gauges against the track threshold.

Built seven apps on @Polkadot Products this past week. Will reveal soon and share all the details. TL;DR: - Streaming payments: lock funds once, they unlock to the recipient every second - A trustgraph rep system where addresses vouch for each other, public and revocable - One call that deploys an entire NFT collection, art rendered by a contract - A shared pixel canvas where 25 cents buys 25 pixels to paint on - King of the hill with exactly one crown where longest total reign wins - A hot takes leaderboard where the community votes on what stays up top - Status board for six key core devnet systems Nine contracts, seven .dot domains, zero servers. More coming.
Looks like @alice_und_bob is making me revisit the @Polkadot ecosystem again for the first time in a long time. My Saturday night is a vibe-coding session anyhow, so might just fit Polkadot Products devnet into it as well. Ngl, the ecosystem is pretty much ded bc they literally never managed to make any app mobilize users at scale + a lot of the gud tech stayed a cool concept with no real traction. But when I entered crypto back in 2019/20 Polkadot's vision for a cohesive multichain network of app-specific chains, its vision for heterogenous sharding and cross-chain interoperability/composability was one of the things that rly got my nerdy mind hooked on web3. Also laid the foundation for my mental model to understand the rollup-centric roadmap, the modular thesis and generally blockchain scaling/architecture topics in the years after that. Not a believer or holder anymore tbh (too many things went very wrong over there), but will always have a soft spot for Polkadot. Should be fun anyhow and who knows, maybe they finally bring smth to market here that will matter to a real audience of users.

Aren't we all tired of the gazillion logins, installs, and new accounts demanded by every single service we use? Gavin Wood recently presented a paradigm shift in how everyday technology could look: Owned by yourself, smooth and simple UX, app previews before you download, and no logins. In the next step, Gavin Wood will lead the technical side of delivery directly at @paritytech, taking the proofs of concept the Parity team has laboured over and hardening them into robust, open-source software that people can actually use. Learn more about the Polkadot and Human Web3 vision below. 📺

Accessing my Claude bot through the Polkadot app and letting it deploy stuff to Web3 😎 I know that the Polkadot App is all about personhood, but I personally think that bots will be a good UX and we should have them. (video sped up, original code from @shawntabrizi)

I’ve already used several of these capabilities in my own application. They are clearly explained, modular, and surprisingly easy to integrate. This is what product infrastructure should feel like: powerful underneath, simple for developers.

What is Polkadot Products? It was lovely finally trying it out last night and a lot clicked for me. It’s the first time something feels like true Web3 (a bit like the ChatGPT moment a few years ago made AI finally click) A thread to explain it 👇🧵
