Thanks @moneyacademyKE ! Looking forward to some great conversations!
Truth is, Kenyan farms make money every season, but lenders can't price what they can't see and will default to asking for bank statements and payslips. That blind spot is a big part of why agriculture stays underfunded.
At @Antugrow we're building the data infrastructure that gives lenders a verified view of farm performance, so farmers can be underwritten based on data they can actually produce.
See you there!

Most existing financing infrastructure lends to farmers against title deeds, bank statements and payslips. Smallholders rarely have these, yet their farms produce every season and are viable investments.
This is a major obstacle to helping farmers scale into commercial agriculture. Traditional finance looks for data most farmers don't hold, and overlooks the farm data that would show they're worth lending to.
I'll be at @RotaryNairobiS tomorrow, Wednesday 14th Oct, to talk about that gap and how @Antugrow is closing it, using our farm data infrastructure to build agri-based credit scores lenders can trust.
Grateful for the invite!

Small farms grow most of Africa's food, yet the majority have no access to reliable credit.
Lack of agri-data prevents underwriting agriculture so capital still hesitates to treat it as a worthy investment.

"I am on 7 months without a salary, on the verge of financial ruin, at the mercy of landlords and creditors. No Board has removed me as the CEO yet the World Bank are just sitting there, driving me to the verge of a mental breakdown. All so that they can take control of the Board and acquire the company at a depressed price. Employees are praying and fasting daily wondering when the siege will end."

I turn 30 today.
My 20s were absolutely crazy...crowded with pushing limits, and having fun while at it. Won some, lost some, God's been great.
- First startup at 20, an agtech
- Started a college placement service that placed lots at Ivy League schools at 21 (it still does)
- Left undergrad at 21, lost my father months before graduation, I got a 1st Class... he's proud of me I'm sure
- Did identity research with Binance X at 23
- Supported Nairobi's biggest developer community, Facebook Dev Circles at 24
- Went hard on Food Systems research at 25
- Began third startup, AntuGrow, at 26
- Joined Ethereum's Next Billion at 27
- Joined Base at 28, most intense year of my 20s was at Coinbase
- Back to AntuGrow at 29, an agtech
Reflecting on the bold bets I've made in the last decade as I step into the next one... harmony is all you need.
I feel a renewed sense of life now at 30. I've been asking myself, what do 30 year olds do? Do they know what to do? Should I now start acting grown? lol. Do I have to do the same? I guess we'll find out what this one will do
What I know for sure is that I'll go full beast mode and will be unapologetically great. Extremely. Game on!

Agricultural data fragmentation remains one of the biggest barriers to farmer profitability in Kenya. It creates a cycle of information failure that leads to avoidable losses and limits farmers' ability to build resilient businesses.
At @AntuGrow we have built the infrastructure that converts verifiable farm data into trusted financial signals; powering a smart credit engine that helps de-risk lending and investment in agriculture.
Yesterday, at the 12th Agritech Africa International Exhibition & Conference at the KICC, I joined leaders across agriculture, technology, and policy on the "Connected Intelligence: Scaling AI, Autonomous Machinery, and Verifiable Data Systems for Climate-Resilient Agriculture" panel to share how AntuGrow, through @SmartShambani, is building that infrastructure.
Over the years we have worked closely with farmers to understand what "data" actually means to them, setting our findings as the foundation for SmartShamba.
Today, by combining farm records, GIS, human extension and AI, SmartShamba helps farmers make better decisions, optimise inputs and labour, anticipate risks, access finance, and improve profitability.
SmartShamba is built for farmers at every level, while our underlying infrastructure enables collaboration across the agricultural value chain:
Financiers can leverage farmer credit scores and performance data to lend and invest with greater confidence. Policymakers gain access to trend data and actionable insights. Agripreneurs can reach and serve farmers more effectively. Researchers can access real-time insights, and farmers can build more profitable and resilient businesses.
We are onboarding farmers and partners every day, and seeing rapid growth in both our product and our impact.
Ad astra!
