Clarification - I said: Great investors are open minded and understand things before others. Right now, I see Bitcoin as a very misunderstood asset class. (Didn’t tell anyone to buy anything but just suggestion to learn about BTC).
OSU graduate, Chris Pan, takes ayahuasca to write his commencement speech and then tells 60,000 people to buy #Bitcoin to protect their purchasing power. What a fucking legend.

We often talk about big bets at Etched and there’s no higher conviction investor than @sonyatweetybird and @abhishekm1636 Sonya did over 50 calls with customers, suppliers, and other chip companies before approaching us about working together Before I knew it I was on a plane with Sonya, @dougleone, and @gradypb talking about what the future of inference clusters would look like. @Alfred_Lin and fifteen people from the sequoia partnership came by our lab, saw the models run themselves, and we decided to partner together We couldn’t be more excited to be working with Sequoia!
We @Sequoia are leading the Series C in @Etched Etched has built a beautiful machine in Gen 1. And Gen 2/3/++ will only be faster and more ambitious. Maximizing intelligence per flop is both insanely fun engineering and an incredibly noble mission. Honored to be on board.

We’ve raised $300M in Series C funding at a $10.3B valuation from Sequoia, Andreessen Horowitz, Jane Street, Argo, and SK Hynix. Our mission is to run the world's inference. This round accelerates production of our inference clusters. We've opened an 80,000-sqft, 10-MW facility 15 minutes from our office to expedite production and prototyping.

Finally, Bitcoin fell to $60k last week, which is in the support zone that I suggested a few months ago when I wrote that another 4-year cycle bull market had likely ended. A decline to “only” $60k would be relatively shallow for a Bitcoin winter, but as the commodity currency matures, its ups and downs should become less dramatic. It’s anyone’s guess whether $60k is the low, but my guess is that it is, and that after a few months of backing and filling the next cyclical bull market will get underway. Based on the mathematical harmony of past cycles, which of course are not a guarantee of future cycles, my sense is that any future waves could eventually take us to new highs.

Wow this is so misleading @WSJ - shocked that you don’t know Bitcoin Conference is put on by an independent company Bitcoin Magazine. No one controls Bitcoin - that’s why we love it. It’s like saying Sports Illustrated controls sports. 🙈🙈🙈

A MESSAGE TO MY DEAR BITCOINERS: Stay humble, #bitcoiners. Don't brag too much.  Leave the "I told you so's to me." You stay silent. Act like nothing is going on. When people call, don't even mention bitcoin. Just be normal, be cool. You read me?  We knew this was coming. We told everyone, and it's only beginning. Don't give those who ridiculed you and wouldn't listen the satisfaction of seeing you happy. Be happy in silence. It builds character.  So be cool, calm, collective. If they mention #bitcoin, just say, "Oh yeah. Cool right?!" And change the friggin' subject on them: "How's Mary by the way?" Make them think, "WTF?"  Then, just go back to stacking every week of your life. This is nothing. 2025 is going to change your life forever. 🙏🏾 We ain't seen nothing yet.

“I think what people experience on the inside is how they view the world,” he says. “So like, if you are pretty negative on the inside, then I think you view everything with negativity. If you’ve been scammed before, then you view everything as a scam. I think it’s a reflection of what they’re feeling inside. Maybe they’re angry at the world, maybe they’re not happy about certain things, and they’re taking it out on my speech.” Pan shares his desire to shift the conversation toward understanding how society has arrived at a “closed-minded, disrespectful state.” He says his remarks on Bitcoin were intended to foster open-mindedness and comprehension, rather than advocating for its purchase. He criticizes the negative reaction he has received, highlighting the expectation that a college education should instill skills such as listening, embracing diverse perspectives and engaging in civil discourse. He also questions whether universities are effectively imparting these essential skills, stressing the need for reflection on education’s role in fostering a harmonious world. And although he reiterates that he harbors no animosity toward his critics, he believes that vital skills may be missing in the current educational framework. nextshark.com/christopher-pa…

To say that Bitcoin outperformed these other asset classes over the past seven years would be an understatement. During this seven-year time period, Bitcoin's annualized returns were an impressive 44%. Other major asset classes had an average return of just 5.7%. In fact, it didn't matter if you looked at a seven-year, six-year, five-year, four-year, or three-year time horizon. The results were always the same: Bitcoin dominated every other major asset class.

In the time period between 2011 and 2021, Bitcoin was the top-performing asset in the world, and it wasn't even close. Bitcoin delivered annualized returns of 230%, while the S&P delivered annualized returns of 14%.
