Awesome new resource on shark anatomy:
An open-access CT-based 3D anatomical dataset of extant sharks (Selachii) across all major lineages

If you've ever wondered what it'd be like to be a small remora or pilotfish, check out Kewin Lorenzen's gorgeous photography. The insane clarity and detail makes each shark a landscape of denticles, and hydrodynamic curves
Some more insaaaane pics, I don't know how he does it. I've never seen sharks at this magnification before but it's really special. Species are in the alt text
Check out his work here:

So excited for this!!! Features footage from ReShark, an organization helping to release Indo-Pacific leopard sharks into the wild (Shedd Aquarium is a part of this program and has recently sent eggs to the sanctuary!)

Excellent letter by world-renowned shark paleontologist Dr. Kenshu Shimada, a graduate of Fort Hays State University himself, on the absolute need to keep the Sternberg Museum open & its collections intact

Some of the studies I made of the extinct megatooth shark Otodus megalodon, for an upcoming commission I can hopefully share soon. Megalodon is known almost exclusively from fossil teeth, which have not been found articulated with jaws.
Above sketches/drawings are all my own, some directly based on scientific figures from Shimada et al's work on lamniform jaws/dentition, Cooper et al's 2022 study on Megalodon as a transoceanic predator & @Evoincarnate's Megalodon skeletals & 3D models.
I highly recommend reading Dental homologies in lamniform sharks (Chondrichthyes: Elasmobranchii) by Kenshu Shimada to get a sense of lamniform jaws/dentition. A selection of figures from the paper are below

If you share images on here, whether for general scicomm, paleoart, paleontology/scientific figures, photos etc PLEASE credit your source! Either in the the main tweet, alt text, or a reply. Artists like me rely on word-of-mouth and in the age of AI it's more important than ever
This is very crucial if you share scientific figures. An image search may not be able to track down the exact paper or source, but you (hopefully) have that information. ALWAYS CAPTION/CREDIT, even tag the author/artist if possible!
