ISLAMABAD, August 17, 2026: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani met Faisal Zahid Malik, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of Pakistan Observer, at his chamber in Parliament House, Islamabad.
During the meeting, Chairman Senate Gilani congratulated Faisal Zahid Malik on the announcement of the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in recognition of his outstanding services to journalism and the media sector. He lauded Malik’s longstanding contributions to journalism and his efforts to promote responsible and professional journalism in Pakistan.
The meeting also featured an exchange of views on the prevailing state of journalism and the media industry, challenges confronting the sector, and the importance of a free, responsible and professional press in strengthening democratic values and parliamentary institutions.
Senator Al-Haj Muhammad Umer Gorgaij, Member of the National Assembly Musa Gilani, and Saud Faisal Malik, Deputy Chief Editor and Chief of Digital at Pakistan Observer, were also present.
The meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere.
Faisal Zahid Malik, Chairman & CEO of Pakistan Observer, has been honoured with the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Civil) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to journalism, leadership and the empowerment of individuals and communities.
The prestigious civil award was announced on 14 August 2026, on the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day.
The award will be conferred at the Investiture Ceremony on Pakistan Day, 23 March 2027. 🇵🇰
