Islamist terrorists carried out a horrific massacre against Jordan’s Christian community today in Karak, south of Amman. The three attackers opened fire during a funeral at St. George Orthodox Church, killing seven people and wounding dozens in an atrocity that sent shockwaves through Christian communities across the Middle East. King Abdullah II vowed to confront those seeking to destabilize Jordan and threaten its centuries-old Christian presence. Jordanians from across the political spectrum have rallied behind his commitment to combating ISIS-inspired Islamist terrorism. Public outrage intensified after CCTV footage of the attack circulated online, revealing the cold-blooded targeting of defenseless civilians gathered to mourn a loved one. What is particularly revealing is that some of the same people condemning today’s massacre of Jordanian Christians celebrated or excused Hamas’s equally brutal murder of Israeli civilians on October 7. It is remarkable how readily some affirm the sanctity of innocent civilian life in one context and correctly denounce its killing as terrorism, yet deny that same humanity in another and rebrand the murder of civilians as “resistance.”

I’m glad Congress isn’t alive to see this.
This is why Trump loves tariffs -- he gets to play Caesar. It enables his "personalist" rule. Economic policy does not govern the situation; personal whim, does. We need a party that reflects the principles and values of the American conservative tradition.

Ukrainian Starshield terminals still don't work properly, multiple sources tell me. This is despite an apparent order from President Trump to Elon Musk to restore full functionality to Ukrainian Starshield terminals.

Iran has sentenced 21-year-old Taraneh Rahimi to death and her twin sister, Romina, to 36 years in prison for participating in anti-government protests. Their family alleges that both women were severely tortured and forced to confess to charges including "waging war against God" before their sentencing in August. Iranian authorities did not respond to CBS News' request for comment. CBS News' @InayaFolarin spoke with the twins' U.S.-based cousin, Masoud Nourmohammadi, about their case and the family's efforts to seek justice.

Mehdi Hasan has tweeted more about me in the last month than the war in Ukraine. He loves Putin.
The last time I engaged this person in online debate she complained that she was being attacked and threatened in the replies and screamed misogyny. So I stopped engaging with her. She hasn’t stopped tweeting about, or quote-tweeting, me. The desperation to get attention, sheesh.

Ukraine’s envoy to Washington says that Trump’s request to Musk was ignored.
Starshield/Starlink speed restrictions remain in place. Every day matters for Ukraine, because every Ukrainian life matters. Our people are waiting for positive news, hoping that the restrictions will be lifted and our defenders will have the capabilities they need to protect lives. Unfortunately, as of today, nothing has changed. We continue to wait.

Lastly. If we instead look at fatalities from civilian violence since the year 2000 the difference is much larger of course. This time we look at data from the anti-Israel site B'tselem. From 2000 to today 896 Israeli civilians (Image 1) and 327 forces (Image 2) has been killed by "Palestinians" in Israel and Judea Samaria / The West Bank, for a total of 1,223 deaths. At the same time 132 "Palestinian" deaths has occurred from Israeli civilians (Image 3). In these 25+ years tens times more Israelis has died from civilian attacks than "Palestinians" from "settler violence".

Fascinating - a new Jewish Museum in Baghdad- A shame no Jews can visit it safely today and that only now a museum documents/celebrates what Iraqi Jews contributed, that could have continued until today, if they weren't entirely ethnically cleansed:

EXCL: Nigel Farage’s newest billionaire donor was in business with a powerful Iranian religious foundation under the authority of the country’s supreme leader, raising questions about his past dealings with the hardline republic. Hossein Ghandehari, also called Sasan, was little known in the UK until he pledged to give millions to Reform UK this summer and donated £50,000 to Farage to cover the cost of two passes for the Davos World Economic Forum. Just before stepping onto the stage, Farideh asked me a simple question: “Should I leave my hair down, or tie it back?” I said let it go.. but my heart broke. She can no longer see her own reflection in the mirror. She still wants to look beautiful, to stand tall, and to be seen. Farideh was blinded in both her eyes by the Islamic Republic during the uprising in 2022, in Sanandaj. She’s a hero and that is why I invited her to join our delegation in Poland while I receive an award. With Farideh joining us, our delegation now carries three women blinded under Islamic regimes. Fahimeh is from Afghanistan. Her husband blinded her, just for women’s rights activities. And Kosar was only 22 years old when she took to the street after the murder of Mahsa Jina Amini in the hand of morality Police, shouting for freedom. The Islamic Republic shot her in the face and took one of her eyes. Yesterday we visited Auschwitz. I walked where millions of innocent people were murdered. We could not hold back our tears. And you know what broke my heart even more? The dictators and oppressors who commit crimes against humanity are the same ones who deny the Holocaust in our country. The Islamic Republic denies the Holocaust, they even hold cartoon contests mocking it, while they are committing their own crimes against our people in the streets of Iran. This is what evil does. It denies the crimes of others while committing its own. That is why we must never be silent. We must speak, we must document, we must bear witness, so the world cannot say we did not know. And at the end, I want to thank Poland for opening your doors to these brave women, for standing with us, for giving us this platform so the voices of the blinded women of Iran and Afghanistan can be heard. Poland knows the price of freedom, and that is why freedom echoes here. My dream is to take these bra women to university campuses in Europe in America to tell the truth what it means living under Islamic Stats. Hear Our Stories! @FahimaSarfaraz @kosareftekharii

“In late spring 2020, a source I knew to be reliable called me with a story,” writes Matthew Cole. “The Dutch government had hacked into Jared Kushner’s phone and monitored him as he accessed a Dubai-based bank account. What was odd, the source said, was that the money in the account—hundreds of millions of dollars—had come from a bank in Azerbaijan. Most importantly, Kushner appeared to have transferred significant amounts of money from the Dubai account to other individuals, including a warlord, a mercenary and a one-time hit man. The story sounded preposterous, I told my source. And yet. Six months later, I found myself speaking with someone else about the UAE government and their use of mercenaries in conflicts around the Middle East and Africa when I asked, on a whim, whether they knew anything about Kushner and bank transfers from a UAE account. My acquaintance grew quiet. Then they replied, ‘Yes.’” Kushner’s lawyer denied the bank account existed. I remember a time when simply saying the word Tigray could get you arrested in Ethiopia. When displaying the Tigray flag was illegal, when playing Tigrinya music in Addis Ababa could land you in jail, and when even carrying a Tigrayan name could make you a target. TDF fought to the death to ensure those days would never return. Yet today, some proudly wave the flag and play the music while tarnishing the very force that helped protect their identity and resist persecution. Never forget: Abiy Ahmed’s primary objective was to eradicate Tigray as we know it. The TDF stood in the way and made that impossible. You can never rewrite history or forget the price paid for the freedom to be openly Tigrayan. Never forget who fought to ensure your identity would never again be treated as a crime.
