Let this sink in: ONE year ago, inflation was at 8.3%. Now, inflation is at *3.2%*, which is a more than FIVE percent decrease in 12 months. So, yes, President Biden's Inflation Reduction Act IS working — and not a single Republican in the House & Senate voted for it.

Trump won 53% of vote in Ohio but GOP controls 67% of seats in state house & 79% in state senate That’s why defeat of Issue 1 such a big deal Voters can still use direct democracy to check power of ultra gerrymandered legislature & protect fundamental rights

It still shakes me every time I say it. I was on the BBC again a few days ago and I said for the umpteenth time, “America has two major political parties, and one of those parties, my former party, has given up on democracy. My former party is now fully anti-democracy.” Scary.

Read the indictment. The charges are not complicated. There are no first amendment or constitutional disputes. There are no political statements. It is a simple fact-based narrative of the actions he took to undermine democracy. It is an indictment meticulously crafted for one purpose. A conviction.

“A human being in a neurotic state might very well be compared to a bewitched person, for people caught in a neurosis are apt to behave in a manner uncongenial and destructive towards themselves as well as others.” ― Marie-Louise von Franz #FairyTaleTuesday

I wrote a profile of Dakin Matthews, an 82-year-old actor and Shakespeare expert who is mentoring a younger generation of actors. “I feel like I’m a monk in a scriptorium keeping something alive,” he says: nytimes.com/2023/07/21/theat…

I don't believe that Kevin McCarthy and House Republicans would ever go the route of impeachment. Reason being is that this would require House Republicans to allow Democrats to call witnesses. This means that Lev Parnas would testify under oath, debunking all of the Ukrainian allegations. This means that William Barr would testify under oath explaining exactly why he never charged the Bidens with any crimes. This means that Rudy Giuliani and the repair shop owner would have to testify under oath and explain how Rudy Giuliani was attempting to get Hunter Biden's laptop from the Russians years prior to it turning up in the repair shop. It would require forensic experts to say that additional folders were created on Hunter Biden's laptop after Giuliani obtained it, and months after the FBI got a copy. It would require many more witnesses to testify and those witnesses could incriminate themselves and also make Republicans look foolish. I say, go for it. Impeach Biden. Let the world see the truth through a non-partisan investigation.

"#Jung was anxiously concerned with the survival of the human race. This depended, in his view, upon grasping the human propensity toward #evil. No topic, he felt, could possibly be more relevant and crucial for contemporary people to engage with than what he called the '#shadow.' Understanding the dynamics of the human psyche is critical for humankind's survival, and this is the task Jung set for himself from his earliest years to his last." ~Murray Stein, Ph.D., Jungian analyst, The Problem of Evil, p. 122 On the next episode of Speaking of Jung: Interviews with Jungian Analysts

Shakespeare, aside from all his other preternatural strengths, gives me the constant impression that he knows more than any one else ever has known. Most scholars would call that impression an illusion, but to me it seems the pragmatic truth.

The studios don't understand what they are up against.
Let's hear it for 95-year-old acting legend Rosemary Harris, who was seen walking the SAG-AFTRA picket line outside of Netflix in NYC today.

James Hollis: "It is my belief that the psychological and spiritual maturity of an individual, of a group, even of a nation, is found precisely in its capacity to tolerate ambiguity and ambivalence, and the anxiety generated by both of them. It is the psychologically immature, the spiritually jejune that lusts for certainty, even at the expense of truth, rigorous investigation, and consideration of alternatives. Nothing really important will prove simple. Denial and shallowness never prove worthy of what Socrates called 'the examined life.' The examined life will oblige us to consider that all issues, *all* issues, have more than one facet to consider, that our capacity for self-delusion is very strong, that we are always at least part of the problem, and that we will ultimately walk right into what we have fled, sooner or later." ~James Hollis, Ph.D., Jungian analyst, Why Good People Do Bad Things: Understanding Our Darker Selves, p. 201

Shakespeare’s plays remain the outward limit of human achievement: aesthetically, cognitively, in certain ways morally, even spiritually. They abide beyond the end of the mind's reach; we cannot catch up to them.
