Virginia Heffernan takes on the 'silence of the trolls' story as well. We all want this to stop, but we can't let our emotions get ahead of the facts.
I love the idea that the bots are finished, too. And the strikes on Russian data centers have been astoundingly successful. But the truth here is complicated.

for the love of enron
Sorry I under exaggerated my claim on how bad the $CRWV situation is. They have $11 billion of debt maturing and $2.6 billion of interest due by next year, while operating at a loss and only having $10 billion in revenue. I mistakenly claimed only $500 million interest. I have to call out my mistakes
Executives cashing out $11 billion + of stock as Ai bubble delusion and fraud goes on.
$CRWV owes $13.6 billion by next year
Makes $10 billion revenue
Has no access to credit
Is worth $50 billion
That’s the level of fraud and delusion in Ai
A thing that has seemed hopeless for more than a decade
and yes it's suddenly a little easier to breathe, even here
When we started responding to Russia’s operation against our data centers, and when our strikes reached Yandex’s data centers, it suddenly became a little easier to breathe on many social media platforms. A lot of people noticed it. There was less hate, less division, and fewer provocations.
Because there were fewer bots. And it’s pretty clear where those bots were coming from – if they disappeared when Yandex went offline. This proves, again and again, that Europe is not the source of the problems. Europe is not the one making everything more difficult.
Most importantly, we need people in America, every morning, when the day in Europe is already moving toward evening, to really see what is happening. To see the truth.

Alas the truth about bot death is more complicated:

Claims that Yandex datacenter strikes have impacted RU disinformation traffic are somewhere between misstated and false. This thread gets into some detail. Pause before spreading such claims; they only serve to help the adversary. Keep pressure up.
To those implying that Kremlin-controlled social media bot/troll farms became silent after Ukraine hit a Yandex data center, posting this CloudFare chart (radar.cloudflare.com/bots/as…):
Hate to disappoint you all ⤵️

IS THE BOND MARKET PRICING IN A NEW GLOBAL HEGEMON?
In the newsletter (inspired by our conversation with @CarolinPflueger) I wrote about the huge spread between US and Chinese sovereign borrowing costs, and what it might imply about a shifting balance of geopolitical power.
We might get poor. And the nuclear, climate, and economic threats from the AI oligarchy are real. But AI itself won't kill us all.

"There’s no history of Americans in the Midwest worried about jobs going to Canada. There's no history of making Canada a kind of bugbear that is stealing from us."
On pod, @page88 is great on Trump's imploding effort to get MAGA to hate Canada:

Over the past decade, Steven Pinker has shifted from a mainstream intellectual to an anti-woke polemicist. This piece links this turn to the decline of evolutionary psychology and his proximity to figures in Epstein's circle.

Oracle $ORCL and other Ai companies are definitely not going bankrupt.
Many analysts stayed bullish on Enron, the Houston-based energy trading giant, until the bitter end. For example, on Aug. 15 of last year -- after Enron's stock had lost half its value from its peak price of $90 on Aug. 17, 2000 -- Goldman Sachs & Co. analyst David Fleischer and a team of researchers produced a report for the firm's clients saying "owners of the shares believe that where there is smoke, there must be fire," and yet, "We very much believe there is no fire at Enron."
According to Bloomberg Markets magazine, at least six analysts at major Wall Street brokerages continued to recommend buying Enron stock as late as Oct. 16, when Chairman Kenneth L. Lay said in a conference call that the firm would eliminate $1.2 billion in shareholder equity by ending a partnership. Lehman Brothers analyst Richard Gross wrote after the conference call that "the end of the world is not at hand. . . . We think investors should rustle up a little courage and aggressively buy the stock."
