For the 573rd f**king time, has anyone who fumes that something is "a flagrant breach of the Good Friday Agreement" actually read the b*****ding Good Friday Agreement? It has to be the most misquoted document in Western Civilization, and that's saying something. He's the Prime Minister. The Agreement - that the UK, the Irish Government, UUP, SDLP, SF, ALL etc. all signed up to - states categorically that the UK Secretary of State (a member of this guys cabinet) has control over when to call a border poll. The Agreement states that it will only be considered by the SoS if they can see sufficient support for constitutional change. Every single census, poll and election shows, without doubt, that there isn't sufficient support for constitutional change. There's significant support - very vocal and organised support - but not sufficient support. Certainly not when the agreement states that change rests on 50%+1. So, as jarring as it is for reality to slap you up the face in a Manc accent, he is entirely right that a border poll is off the table. Please people, regardless of your constitutional aspirations, try to live in reality.
