The House Speaker is fresh off a week of big legislative victories. But with a thin majority and an ideologically diverse GOP conference, there's no pleasing everyone
Multiple House Republicans think Johnson isn't doing enough to help rank-and-file members get their legislative priorities across the line
One R accused him of "capitulating" to the Freedom Caucus, while another said he's focused on "the most vulnerable" which "by definition excludes some other members."
Another put it more bluntly: "'You’ve got to kiss a– to move legislation up here."
Still, Johnson keeps defying political gravity, and his allies say the criticism is actually a testament to his policy of listening to people from all sides of the GOP.
But how long can he keep it up? As one House Republican put it: "Everyone has a bullet in the chamber, and they’re not afraid to use it."

NEWS: House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan is referring ex-Special Counsel Jack Smith to the DOJ for criminal charges tonight
In a letter to AG Todd Blanche, Jordan is accusing Smith of lying in a Dec. 2025 deposition about what info he collected on members of Congress.
Smith has always maintained he has not done anything wrong. The referral is the latest move by a Trump ally to crack down on the man who led investigations into the president before he came back to the White House
