If the FIA can control the cars through software, do you really think the teams themselves can’t do the same?Of course they can make one car faster and the other slower, then claim the slower car is down to the driver’s driving style — or just say it’s a software bug they can’t figure out.
F1 has basically turned into an AI racing war at this point. Replace the drivers with AI and the results probably wouldn’t look that different.

⚠️RUS replaced his ES & PU-CE at the very first GP, no explanation offered from Mercedes. 2nd out of 3 total available for the season.
🚨This caused his 2nd ES to be used extensively despite warning signs in Miami > led to ES failure & DNF in Canada.
🚨ES failure killed the 2-race-old ICE, TC, and EXH, along with the still-robust MGU-K.
⚠️For Monaco & Barcelona, RUS had to revert back to pre-Miami-update ICE, TC, EXH, ES, and PU-CE, while also opening new MGU-K and PU-ANC sets.
❗️️ANT had changed to new ES & PU-CE after warning signs in Miami, and the new set lasted him to 4 laps short of the end of Barcelona.
🟢However, as it was Mercedes' plan to bring in a new PU upgrade in Austria, ANT suffered 0 further damage, immediately moving onto a fresher PU set.
⚠️In Silverstone, RUS was suffering from massively obvious Deployment/PU issues shown through Straight Line speed deficits. However, Mercedes somehow deemed his PU fine and ANT's not fine = switched out ANT's ICE and EXH ahead of Spa.
🚨The same hadn't been done for RUS, and his ICE cracked open during Q3 in the very next GP, Hungary.
🚩Despite the team confirming an ICE change, relevant FIA docs have never been published.
🚩It is only in the Dutch "PU elements used per driver up to now" document where RUS is suddenly revealed to have used a new TC in addition to his ICE.
🟢Across the Belgian, Hungarian, and Dutch GPs, ANT is confirmed to be on his 4th EXH set.
🟢At Monza, which ANT himself cites the best track on the calendar to receive a Grid Penalty, ANT replaces his ICE, ES, and PU-CE.
🚩At Monza, his EXH count is suddenly dropped from 4 to 3. No previous document withdrawals, no explanation offered.
⚠️Denied the opportunity to also serve Grid Penalties at the best track to do so, RUS was unable to change his ICE at Monza like the 7 other Mercedes-powered drivers. He did, however, switch out his MGU-K.
🚨RUS has now maxed out every single PU component apart from the PU-ANC. Any failure to these components would be an immediate Grid Penalty for RUS.
❗️ANT could still change his TC, MGU-K, and PU-ANC without incurring any further Grid Penalty, and according to the newly fabricated Monza document, a new EXH as well.
