so the writer is a passionate AI enthusiast who has used chat-gpt to write a story and a book. but in order to advertise pangram, accused an African writer for using AI—due to the racialised hypervisibility propagated and weaponised in the imperial theatre of discourse.

By whose permission did @vauhinivara feed Caine Prize submissions into AI to figure out if it is AI? Did the writer give their permission? Did the Prize? I hope actual action with consequence is taken.

As a mentor to emerging writers of color, it Is ethically bankrupt to feed years of African prize winners without their knowledge or consent into ChatGPT, morally bereft to focus on this particular prize as fraudulent, and then choose the Atlantic of all places to publish this.

In the second year of my MFA in Iowa, an essay of mine got a Notable Entry in Best American Essays. Someone in my program emailed me asking which essay, asked for a copy and went to a party to rip the essay apart. he rubbished the essay to everyone.
they are a SICK bunch
Replying to @iamToluDaniel
ask anyone who has been through any creative writing MFA or MA and they will tell you, these suspicions are not new. a regular jack in your class who cannot write shit will call your writing useless because he doesn't understand it, and that's on the days when they're being nice.
