How can you complain about authors being upset about the whole downloading thing when This is what they have to deal with. This is Insane. The way people think they are entitled to fic authors works is just unbelievable

Fanfic authors, please be aware there is a website π ao3.life that is scraping fics from Ao3 and turning them into Ai audiobooks and selling them for profit
They have an option to have your fics taken down but from what Iβm seeing you have to provide personal info to βproveβ the fanfics are yours to begin with (giving, phishing scam) and they claim they pay the authors, which is both untrue and ILLEGAL
Nearly all my fanfics are on here Iβm genuinely shaking Iβm so pissed like what the FUCK is wrong with people πππ

it is incredibly grotesque that people will act like they're wasting away without their nice little bedtime stories but turn seething and nasty toward fic writers as soon as they try to set boundaries about the distribution of their work. you are not very nice people

my take on the ao3 google drive drama: preservation and redistribution are two different things. downloading fic for personal use is fine; uploading other peopleβs work permission to your own archive and distributing the link to thousands of people is a different thing. (1/2)
