You don’t have to isolated anymore if you test positive for COVID in France. I’m wondering if this measure will set a bad example for other countries …
I am so honored to see my “Teaching the art of colonization in the Philippines” out. Thanks to the wonderful editors @AKKendrick and @aparkerlawson
It's #publication day! Honored to see this project enter the world after 3 years of hard work alongside @AKKendrick. Join us in spreading the word about the centenary special issue of the Bulletin of Hispanic Studies, on "Education and the Global Hispanophone."
Important piece on medical vocabulary regarding women’s health.
"Geriatric" pregnancy. "Incompetent" cervix. "Hostile" uterus.
Why do some words evolve, while others go on haunting moms’ medical charts like the ghosts of medicine past? 👻
For @TheAtlantic, I investigate the strange realm of pregnancy language:

amazing conversation in my class. Garland Thompson “Extraordinary Bodies” and Siebers “Disability Aesthetics”. The Venus de Milo and Magritte’s version (Les menottes de cuivre), the centrality of disability in art history and its lack of acknowledgement as a theoretical framework
First day of class. 100 students in my Critical Disability Studies class. We’ll start with an overview on disability as a social construct, watch cool videos of dance and music performances, discuss accessibility, study the text of the American Disability Act. Looking forward!

This is a disgusting display of the abuse of identity politics. bell hooks spent almost the entirety of her adult life fighting capitalism & to invoke her work, just months after her death when she can no longer command you to stop, in yr efforts to break this strike, is gross.
An important thread by @IllasEdgar if you want to publish with us at Catalan Review

En lloc de parlar de col·lapse i d’un ric despòtic, podem parlar de centenars de treballadors/es que han dit que NO a treballar en condicions abusives i han marxat de l’empresa?

Twitter has been instrumental in A LOT of liberation movements worldwide. It makes sense that it might be in the world’s richest man’s financial interest to destroy it. Just saying.
In case you missed this wonderful event!

So I see that I decided to come back to twitter right when it’s supposed to disappear. I guess I’m not always on time.

Hello. Young kids back in school are so sick right now. Everyone with a preschooler has an entire household of sleepless viral cough snot fevers for the past two months without a fucking break. So if you know a parent going through this, be kind and gently hit them with your car.
Congratulations to @dallbrit for his new book on HIV/AIDS. Can’t wait to read it and use it in class!
Going back to Stony Brook U after 3 months of medical leave for 2 broken elbows. Long Island Railroad I did NOT miss you!
