Demis Hassabis just won the Nobel Prize for his work on AlphaFold.
But who's @demishassabis, how did he get here, what drives him?
I put together 10 of his best talks/interviews from 2010 till now that show how he's been thinking about AI since founding DeepMind 15 years ago.
In the same year, @demishassabis (alongside fellow Nobel Prize laureate @geoffreyhinton and SSI co-founder @ilyasut participated in a wide ranging panel discussion on Intelligence in the Age of AI.
In his opening remarks, he points out the subtle influences of neuroscience on AI like RL and memory replay.
But he has also come to the realization that AI research and neuroscience have increasingly diverged due to the scaling laws.

Just one month ago, @demishassabis sat down for another conversation with Prof. @FryRsquared, which is a fantastic view into his current thinking around AGI.
Throughout the conversation, he discusses AI as a means to explore “mysteries of the universe”, his hopes as we move closer towards AGI and the current hype cycle of AI.
