In an episode of Gandang Gabi, Vice! (GGV), the Legaspi family was shown a photo of Zoren Legaspi in full woman glam, prompting reactions from his children, Mavy and Cassy Legaspi. “Wow! Yun lang. Kasi we were raised in a way na hindi maging homophobic or sexist,” Mavy said. “Yeah,” Cassy agreed. Zoren then recalled asking his son about his sexuality at a young age. “I think 15 or 16 tinanong ko na kasi siya,” Zoren said. “Bata pa,” Mavy reacted. “Bata pa,” Zoren agreed. “Mas bata pa, 12 ata,” Mavy added. “Straight ka ba o hindi?” Zoren recalled asking his son. “Ah, tinanong mo talaga? Why?” Vice Ganda asked. “Para alam ko na so we can gear up dun sa kung ano ka. Hindi ka na magtatago. Pag-aaralin na kita ng mananahi, mapapakinabangan na kita,” Zoren explained. “Agad? Paano kung hindi naman ’yan ang gusto niya? Pag bakla, mananahi agad? Wow, ang bago ng pananaw mo ha? Okay na ako sa unang statement eh… Pero what if he is really queer?” Vice responded. “Oh, ‘di isama siya sa’n ka pumunta,” Zoren replied. Mavy then recalled his conversation with his father, saying, “Naaalala ko yung talk namin noon ni Papa Z. Very supportive naman siya at hindi ko in-expect yun. Sobrang open siya. Di ko in-expect yun kasi siyempre ang tingin ko sa kanya action star, astig ang papa ko.” The conversation showed Mavy’s appreciation for his father’s openness and support, despite the tough action-star image he had of Zoren.
