Hello again at the start of a new week.
It's Day 1699 of the war in Ukraine.
Just as Ukraine's army starts pushing the invaders back, Russia's sworn enemy comes to its rescue, Agent Krasnov (aka Trump) doing all he can to defeat Ukraine.
Here's my new daily thread..

Since the American President announced the energy ceasefire a week ago, Russia has deliberately attacked Ukraine’s energy and oil and gas sectors 76 times. Last night alone, there were strikes on substations in the Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, and Odesa regions. Tens of thousands of families remain without power. Energy workers and repair crews are working virtually around the clock to restore electricity supply. Overnight, the Russians also struck residential buildings in our regions. As of now, 12 people have been reported injured, including two children. Two people have been killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones. This morning, there was a strike on an agricultural enterprise in Volyn. All necessary services are working at the site.
In total, over this past week, the Russians have attacked Ukraine with almost 2,700 attack drones, 1,700 aerial bombs, and 66 missiles, most of them ballistic. The main targets of these strikes are energy facilities – the Russians are trying to cause a blackout. And America should see that Russia is not taking any reciprocal steps in response to sanctions relief or agreements. On the contrary, they take every signal of an opportunity to make money as proof that their bet on war is paying off and they can keep fighting. It is because of this position of Russia’s that the war continues, not because Ukraine is rightfully defending itself. It is Russia that must face pressure for peace to have a chance. Thank you to everyone who understands this and helps.

Trump removed sanctions on the country that murdered 30 innocent people riding on this bus last week. He has sided with this.
Day 1698 of Russia's all-out war on Ukraine, and 4,623 days since Putin started his invasion of now occupied Crimea.
A late start to the daily thread today, after last night's very late finish, but as always, I am here with all the important news in one thread.
Probably a good time to flag this up again too.
I think it was @TheStudyofWar which published this graphic proving Trump was lying by blaming Ukraine for diesel price rises.
The cost spiked only AFTER Trump started his war on Iran.
17 days til the Midterms🙏
On such a day, I was reminded of 10 years ago by @TheRynheart when senior Republicans first thought Trump was paid by Putin.
@washingtonpost reported this in 2017, by which time GOP tried to pretend it was just "humour"

In 2016 @Wapo published the transcript of a taped conversation where McCarthy expressed concern Trump was paid by Putin and the group decided to stay silent “stays in the family.” Now Trump is aiding Russia; downgrading Starlink and removing sanctions. When will the @GOP act?
2016 Washington Post:
Ryan mentioned his meeting with Groysman and described Russian-backed forces firing artillery into Ukraine daily, plus tactics of “financing our populists, financing people in our governments to undo our governments.” Ryan summarized Groysman saying the Russians intended to “roll right through us and go to the Baltics and everyone else.”
Rodgers: “Yes,” noting Russian funding of NGOs across Europe as part of a “propaganda war.”
Ryan: “Maniacal. And guess, guess who’s the only one taking a strong stand up against it? We are.”
Rodgers: “We’re not . . . we’re not . . . but, we’re not.”
McCarthy (shifting to the DNC hack, with a laugh): “I’ll guarantee you that’s what it is. . . . The Russians hacked the DNC and got the opp [opposition] research that they had on Trump.”
Ryan (asking who the Russians “delivered” the opposition research to): [prompting the response]
McCarthy (drawing some laughter): “There’s . . . there’s two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump.”
McCarthy (quickly adding): “Swear to God.”
Ryan: “This is an off the record.”
[Some lawmakers laughed.]
Ryan: “No leaks, all right? . . . This is how we know we’re a real family here.”
Scalise: “That’s how you know that we’re tight.”
Ryan: “What’s said in the family stays in the family.”

Latest: Zelenskyy tells reporters over WhatsApp that restrictions on Ukraine's Starlink systems remain. Interceptor drones can't function, logistics and operations hobbled. The maximum speed is 161 kph; "exceeding this limit causes the Starlink connection to cut out completely, resulting in the loss of the drone."
He says Ukraine has done tests to determine whether SpaceX is truly facing technical issues, as has been told Kyiv by the US side, or if this is a "deliberate operation... to restrict us, cut us off, and prevent us from defending ourselves and protecting our people, both at the front and among the civilian population."
He says Ukraine "sent a couple of vehicles equipped with Starlink terminals into European Union territory."
"They moved at speeds exceeding 180kph, and the Starlink systems worked perfectly. We have the relevant logs and evidence to prove this."
He adds: "The conclusion is clear: the restrictions are in effect within Ukraine but do not apply within the European Union. In other words, this is a planned operation."
