An independent ontology consultant analyzed our context platform's JSON Schema model and W3C standards implementation: RDF, OWL, SKOS, SHACL. Her framework tests for three things most "context layer" claims skip: a controlled vocabulary glossary, a typed-relationship ontology with logical axioms, and a queryable knowledge graph you can actually run inference against. @JessicaTalisman's take: most vendor "ontologies" are a glossary with a hierarchy.
